Skopje liegt im Norden Nordmazedoniens und ist von mehreren Gebirgen umgeben. Im Südwesten der Stadt befindet sich das Vodno-Gebirge, das für seine malerische Aussicht über das Tal von Skopje bekannt ist. Skopje ist mit einer Bevölkerung von ca 526.502 die größte Stadt des Landes. Die Stadt hat eine über zweitausendjährige Besiedlungsgeschichte und war einst als Scupi bekannt. Ein verheerendes Erdbeben im Jahr 1963 zerstörte einen Großteil von Skopje, der anschließende Wiederaufbau prägt das moderne Stadtbild. Der Basar ist das sehenswerte authetische muslimische Viertel der Stadt. Es besteht ein gut ausgebautes Busnetz.

Der Kalender ist der Teil der neuen Reihe Balkankalender von drachenkind-fotografie.
