At the end of the round, the previous generation of foxes are replaced and all the new pups are moved to the kennel - meaning they become candidates to be chosen as parents in the next round. The game ends after 5 rounds and you will be awarded points by the sponsors (bonuses for final score), studies completed (personal game objectives), if you ever won the friendliest fox award, upgrades on your personal game board and extra tokens.
