Umbria is a land of beautiful countryside and picturesque towns and villages. The doorways to many houses and buildings are really quite breath-taking. Wooden carving, marble architrave and steps and many with a traditional semi-circular window above the door itself. This allows light into the room behind the door, often a vestibule and stairway. Here are 12 stunning images showing a variety of these doorways. To create these images, I have taken my own photographs and then enhanced them digitally on my computer to give them an artistic feel.
