Das Veia JJF Round Tail Pro Pad ist John John Florence's dreiteiliges Arch Pad für Round Pin Tails, natürlich mit seinem Pyzel Pro Modell Ghost im Hinterkopf.
Der Arch ist bei allen JJF Pro Pads flach und nicht zu hoch, sodass er bei Fußpositionierung dahinter sehr guten Grip gibt, ohne zu sehr zu stören, wenn man den Fuß vorzieht und mit dem Fußrücken darauf steht. Auch der Tail Kick (Anschlag) ist moderat. Cut-outs in der Padfläche sorgen für reduziertes Gewicht und gutes Board-Feeling.
Das Detail, das uns aber am besten gefällt, sind die Cut-outs im Tail Kick selbst, die dafür sorgen, dass das Wasser, das sich beim Surfen auf das Deck zieht, nicht über/um den Tail Kick fließen muss, sondern durch ihn hindurch kommt. Es gibt ja Pros wie Mason Ho, die behaupten, dieser zusätzliche Wasserwiderstand mache Surfboards mit Tailpads langsamer. Ob man den Geschwindigkeitsunterschied beim Surfen spürt, muss jeder für sich selbst herausfinden;)
Die Passform ist wie oben schon erwähnt für Round Pin Tails optimiert. Durch die Aufteilung in drei Teile kann man es aber auch problemlos auf breitere Round Tails kleben. Auf schmale Pin Tails wie z.B. beim CI Black Beauty passt das Pad ebenfalls, allerdings sind das FCS T-3 Pin, das Creatures of Leisure Icon Pin oder das Ocean Earth Pin Tail Pad noch etwas schmaler. Alle anderen Pads sind mit der “Squash” Variante des JJF Pro Pads am besten versorgt.

Veia heißt John John Florence’s Accessory Marke, unter der er technisches Surfboard Zubehör wie Boardbags, Leashes, Traction Pads und Co. herausbringt. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten war, ist Veia (ganz ähnlich wie JJF’s Softgood Label Florence Marine X) sehr technisch ausgerichtet und im Design sehr minimalistisch gehalten.

And how he started changing around her.
