One industrial infrastructure builder’s plaque manufactured by the Bethlehem Steel Company. The rectangular cast iron plaque features a scalloped corner design and is embossed with lettering reading “Built by / Bethlehem Steel / COMPANY / 1950 centered around the company's trademark "I" beam shield emblem. The textured, pebble-grained background has a dark, seasoned finish while the prominent raised lettering and plain border stand out in relief. There are four mounting holes located at the four corners of the plate for bolting onto heavy steel structures.
The Bethlehem Steel Company was an industrial superpower during the mid-20th century. Founded in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the company grew from a local iron manufacturer into the second-largest steel producer in the United States. The company's massive output and engineering innovations fueled the post-WWII American infrastructure boom. Steel forged by Bethlehem Steel was utilized in constructing iconic national landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, the Empire State Building, and the Hoover Dam.
Bridge builders' plaques like this 1950 model were standard installations on civil engineering projects. Bolted directly onto bridges, overpasses, and heavy rail structures, these permanent markers served to stamp the manufacturer's mark of engineering pride onto public works. The centerpiece logo highlights Bethlehem's revolutionary wide-flange "I" beam, a patented structural shape that allowed for lighter, stronger spans and effectively shaped the modern urban skyline.
These heavy iron casting plates serve as rare physical monuments to Bethlehem Steel, the industrial giant whose structural steel forged the American century. Following the post-war decline of domestic heavy industry and the company's 2003 dissolution, these plaques became highly prized artifacts of industrial archaeology and vintage Americana. They endure as lasting symbols of the muscle that constructed the modern world.

I was delighted with the quality and color
Size: X-Small, Color: Lilac
This is a super cute, and frankly, fairly high fashion little hoodie. The price was great for what it is. Really nice soft (terry?) inside. Double fabric hood. Really soft. It has an oversized cut which makes it easy to get on and off, but is just the right length to make the sizing look great and intentional - it doesn't look too big. I love the color. It's high quality, and I didn't notice any shrinkage. Even the hood is cut in a chic way. Not your average kids' hoodie.
