How to grow your lotus tuber

Choose a wide, shallow, no holes container for this tall lotus. The container should be 24 - 48 inches in diameter or larger. Fill the container 2/3 full of loam soil and dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Gently place your lotus tuber in the trench and cover all but the growth tips with soil. Gently add 5 - 6 inches of water above the soil and place the container outdoors where it will receive 8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily. Do not fertilize your lotus until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, fertilizing too early will burn the plant.

How to fertilize your lotus

We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for ease of use, optimum growth and best bloom. Simply press the tabs near the roots of the lotus, taking care not to damage the roots.
