The map also notes several American Indian nations including the Dakotah, Odjibwe, Assiniboin, Aikara, Minitarree and others. The map is color coded according to county and notes towns, cities, rivers, railways and other topographical features.
Features the fretwork style border common to Johnson's atlas work from 1863 to 1869. Published by Johnson and Ward as plate no. 64 in the scarce 1866 edition of Johnson's Family Atlas.
