Because it's pigment-based rather than dye-based, it does ask for a little more care than standard inks - but follow the simple guidelines below and you'll be rewarded with permanent, archival lines that last.

A few care tips for fibre tip pens - worth reading before you fill up

Because Pigment Black is pigment-based, it behaves a little differently from standard dye inks. A small amount of extra care goes a long way.

Cleaning: If you won't be using your pen for more than a few days, remove the tip and reservoir, rinse thoroughly with water, and allow everything to dry completely before refilling.

Storage: Avoid storing your Lumos or Wren vertically with the tip pointing up - particularly with finer fineliner tips (0.4mm and below). When stored upright, ink can flow away from the tip, leaving it less saturated and more prone to drying out even when capped.

If ink dries in the tip or reservoir: Unfortunately pigment ink that has dried can't be revived. The good news is that replacing the tip and reservoir will have you back up and running straight away.

*On waterproofing: This ink is highly water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. It holds beautifully under a colour wash once fully dry - but a very wet overwash applied too soon may cause slight smudging. Always test before committing!
