About The Sonus faber Lumina V Floorstanding Speakers

The Sonus faber Lumina V is the flagship three-way floorstanding model in the collection. Lumina V is a slender speaker with high-power handling and fast transient response, capable of producing a natural, generous and emotional sound for an immersive listening experience. The Lumina V is rich with new electro-acoustic solutions.

Lute Shaped Mid-Hi Internal Chamber: In a clever move, the internal mid-high frequency part of the cabinet is designed with the iconic lute shape, a unique feature created by Sonus faber and an ongoing mainstay for the brand since its inception in the 1990’s. This feature is able to maximize the structural rigidity and the acoustic performance of the midrange and simultaneously reduce standing waves within the acoustic load volume. The internal arrangement increases the structural rigidity of the mid-hi inner enclosure and contributes to the midrange frequency response becoming more natural, especially in the range typical of the human voice.

Hybrid IFF Crossover - Paracross Topology™: The new mid-high crossover network ‘Hybrid IFF – Paracross Topology™’ combines Interactive Fusion Filtering, first introduced in the Maxima Amator, with Paracross Topology™, where reactive components (capacitors and inductors/coils) are placed on the negative rail of the circuitry. The resulting benefits include a reduction in the drivers’ back EMF (Electro Motive Force), allowing them to operate in a maximally interconnected and organic way, and a lowering of crossover sensitivity to radio frequencies, further improving sound definition.

The Lumina V is a slim and elegant floorstander but also rather substantial. It is the perfect choice for any mid to larger sized room as it offers a broad frequency response, generous dynamic impact and a beguiling midrange presentation.

A Closer Look At The Sonus faber Lumina V

Tweeter: The iconic D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome™) tweeter, the same used in the Sonetto series, features a Kurtmueller hand coated soft silk diaphragm of 29mm. The chrome rings around the drivers highlight shapes and proportions and give brightness to the front baffle while outlining the Voice of Sonus faber.

Midrange: The 6” midrange also comes from the high end Sonetto range and features Sonus faber’s proprietary natural fibre and paper blend air-dried diaphragm for the most natural and dynamic midrange possible.

Dual Bass: The diaphragm of the two 6.5” woofers developed for the Lumina V is based on the sandwich construction technique. Two external layers of cellulose pulp and other natural fibres are combined with a layer of hi-tech syntactic foam in between, guaranteeing natural, controlled and dynamic sound reproduction.

Multi-Layer Wood Front Baffle: Among the materials selected for this line, what stands out is the Lumina’s multi-layer wood on the front baffle and the real wood veneer, available in iconic premium finishes including walnut & wenge, both in matte finish with maple inlays, and with a third option available in piano gloss black. All other surfaces of the cabinet are hand covered in Sonus faber’s iconic black leather.

Reflex Port: The reflex port gives additional versatility on the floorstanding models as it’s placed on the base, firing down. Thanks to this solution Lumina III and Lumina V speakers are significantly less sensitive to their placement, allowing them to sound excellent even when placed close to a back wall. This allows for greater flexibility whilst always ensuring you enjoy great performance and an enriching listening experience.

Terminals: Lumina speakers are provided with two pairs of nickel-plated binding posts, allowing for an upgrade experience provided by bi-wiring or, especially, bi-amping.

The Air & Space Museum is a national treasure.
Format: Hardcover
This is one of those books that makes you wish you were there. Lots of pictures and tidbits of information. A good quality book physically as well. We get their magazine and this is one of many books we have both from and about the museum. Highly Recommended.

Great photo essay, history of aviation and space
i'm an engineer- worked rocket motors, and various satellite programs. this book was recommended by associate after visiting the museum at Langley. The pics are super, with short descriptions, and moderate on the tech. It's an amazing pulse of this wild history, and mostly is from America's lineage. St. Louis, Mercury, Atlas, and up to current Shuttle. There's also the SST, and unique turn of the century early birds. A fine read to be shared with a youngster (my son 10, digs it), or for the history or engineering buff. amazon has it cheaper than at the museum.

Essential reading for PowerPoint presenters.
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Cliff shows details how to improve our PowerPoint presentations. He gives concrete and simple steps to transform a message into a targeted presentation. All of us have suffered from presenters who went over their allotted time because they had vital information to give us, yet we still didn't know their main point. Many have seen slide decks burdened with dozens of bullet points. Did the volume of points yield more clarity or did they dull our ability to focus on the message? Probably not. Read Cliff's book. Follow his method and you'll be a more effective presenter.

Useful with some scientific corroboration
Format: Paperback
Worth it as a primer to slide content and how it inter-relates to the delivery when giving a presentation. Very slightly laboured, like most TV documentaries nowadays - you feel they could move a bit faster (...yeah we got it the first time).
