Libec NH40 Professional Fluid Head: Premium Dual-Base Precision with Long Plate S

In modern digital cinema and professional broadcasting, a fluid head must adapt instantly to different support systems without sacrificing control. The Libec NH40 75mm Ball and Flat Base Video Head is engineered precisely to meet this need. Serving as the core of Libec's high-performance NX series, this Japanese-engineered head supports a generous payload capacity of 10kg (22 lbs) and comes bundled with the expanded Long Plate S.

Whether you are configuring a fully rigged cinema package, a handheld broadcast camcorder, or a modern mirrorless system heavily outfitted with wireless production accessories, the NH40 provides absolute stability and silky-smooth operation.

The Versatility of the Hybrid Dual-Base Platform

Traditional fluid heads limit your mounting choices, forcing you to use a ball base for tripods or a flat base for sliders. Libec eliminates this restriction with its innovative Dual-Head mechanism, featuring a 75mm half-ball base with an integrated flat bottom.

  • On a Tripod: Drop the 75mm half-ball directly into standard 75mm bowl tripod legs for traditional, rapid leveling on rugged outdoor terrain.

  • On Alternative Rigs: Unscrew the lower bowl clamp to reveal standard 3/8"-16 flat-mount threads. This allows you to attach the NH40 directly to flat-base linear sliders (like the Libec ALX series), skater dollies, jibs, or heavy-duty photo monopods.

  • Adjustable Clamp Spacer: By removing the modular spacer from the bowl clamp assembly, the length of the insertion thread is extended, drastically expanding the range of third-party grip gear and accessories that can be securely locked to the head.

Bundled Long Plate S: Expanded Sliding Balance Range

Achieving proper operational balance with heavily customized camera packages can be a major challenge. Front-heavy cinema zooms or rear-heavy V-mount battery blocks shift the rig’s center of gravity drastically.

To solve this, the NH40 includes the Long Plate S (Long Sliding Plate). This premium plate extends the standard adjustment channel up to a generous sliding range of +/- 85mm (+/- 3.3"). It accommodates both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera mounting configurations and includes a rubberized locating pin. This expanded surface area lets you slide your camera package significantly further forward or backward until it balances at absolute zero gravity.

One-Touch Sideload Quick Release Action

Time on set is a finite resource. The NH40 simplifies camera swaps via a one-touch snap-in quick-release plate system. Instead of carefully sliding a heavy camera package from the rear of the head, operators can drop the setup straight down into the locking mechanism from above, where it snaps securely into place. Best of all, the sideload architecture is fully cross-compatible with select industry-standard Manfrotto and Sachtler heads, allowing for rapid cross-platform equipment changes on multi-camera sets.

Multilayered Metal Structure Drag Unit

Cheap fluid heads rely on basic plastic parts that stutter under heavy loads. The NH40 utilizes Libec's advanced multilayered metal structure drag unit. This premium architecture provides distinct operational advantages:

  • 3-Step Selective Drag: Operators can toggle between three discrete steps of pan and tilt resistance (plus a zero "free" mode for rapid whip-pans).

  • Jitter-Free Tracking: The internal metal laminations completely eliminate microscopic stutters and sudden jerky resistance at the start and end of a camera sweep, delivering pristine, broadcast-quality panning.

  • Extreme Temperature Resilience: Using high-grade silicone grease, the drag system behaves identically in severe weather conditions ranging from -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F), ensuring the head never stiffens in sub-zero temperatures or slips in high desert heat.

5-Step Variable Counterbalance System

To effectively manage camera packages up to 10kg, the NH40 features a highly accurate 5-step variable counterbalance mechanism (plus a zero "free" setting). Turning the tactical selector dial modulates the internal spring tension to match the exact weight of your camera rig. When calibrated correctly, the camera remains completely motionless the moment you release the pan handles, preventing dangerous forward or backward tilting slumps.

Thoughtful Field Ergonomics & Utility

  • LED-Illuminated Bubble Level: A integrated push-button blue LED clearly illuminates the level bubble, allowing for level horizons even in pitch-black theatrical venues or night-time exterior environments.

  • Dual Side Accessory Ports: The main head casting features integrated 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 female thread ports on the left side, allowing you to rigidly attach articulated arms, external monitors, or wireless video transmitters directly to the head without cluttering your camera cage.

  • Dual Pan Handle Rosettes: Includes a high-grip pan handle that can be securely locked via steel rosettes onto either the right or left side of the head, facilitating dual-handle studio operations.

No returns and no support. If it doesn't work properly, too bad.
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
I was fairly happy with my Epson ET 2800, but was told that I'd get better colors with the F170. So I bit the bullet. The installation went smoothly and I was printing in short order. It was when I started printing items that had some dark gray that I noticed the problem. It was printing green. I contacted Epson tech support and they answered the phone almost immediately. (And how rare is that??) The woman I spoke with seemed to be familiar with the problem and advised me to modify the printer preferences and change the color correction from "ICM" to "No color correction". Well, it wasn't printing green anymore. Now the grays were brown. At this point, she ran out of ideas and gave me an email address for the second level of tech support and asked if I'd send a photo of the printed fabrics showing the problem. I did. That was over three weeks ago. I've sent a couple of followup emails, but they're ignoring me. But the best news was discovering that there are no returns on this product. I didn't think that was a thing with Amazon and I've never had any problems before. So now the 30-day return window is about to elapse and it appears that I'm stuck with an oversized doorstop. In the photo I'm including with this review, the fabric on the upper-left was printed with my Epson ET 2800. On the upper right, the F170 with ICM color correction. On the bottom, the F170 with no color correction.

Epson SureColor F170 Sublimation Printer Rocks!
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
TI’m a newbie at sublimation, and this is my first sublimation printer. I love it! I can’t wait to make more things! I like that it’s not too large, but still can print up to 8.5x14”. The quality seems to be really good, but I also don’t have any other printer to compare it to. This was my very first project! I’m very happy with it so far!

My Go-To Sublimation Paper — Flawless Results Every Time
Size: 8.5"x11", Size: 8.5"x11"
This is hands down the best sublimation paper I’ve used and the only one I continue to buy. I get a perfect transfer every single time—no fracturing, no fading, and no uneven results. The paper dries fast, which makes my workflow so much smoother, especially when I’m producing items in batches. I use this regularly to make air fresheners and tote bags for my small business, and the color payoff is always vibrant and crisp. The transfer rate is excellent, and it works beautifully on light-colored, high-quality polyester and other sublimation-ready surfaces. If you’re a small business owner or crafter who values consistency, quality, and ease of use, this paper is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend it and will continue to repurchase.

Best Sublimation Paper
Size: 8.5"x11"
I’ve been using A-Sub paper for my sublimation projects, and it is easily one of the best. The ink dries almost instantly once printed, so I don’t have to worry about smudging the design or getting those annoying "pizza wheel" marks from the printer rollers. The paper itself feels substantial and doesn't tear or curl easily. One of the biggest wins for me is that it never jams; it feeds through perfectly every time, saving me the frustration of wasting expensive ink and paper. When I go to press my designs, the ink releases almost completely, leaving very little behind on the paper and putting all that color onto the project. The final results look super professional, with colors that are vibrant and sharp rather than looking faded or dull. It has worked perfectly for everything I’ve tried so far, and if you want a reliable paper that gives you consistent, high-quality results, this is definitely the one to get.
