It requires infrequent watering and should be allowed to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. While highly ornamental, Euphorbia horrida is not considered pet friendly, as its milky sap is toxic and can cause irritation or digestive issues if ingested by cats or dogs. Care should also be taken when handling the plant, as the sap may irritate skin and eyes.
Be aware that the sap of this plant is toxic and should not be touched by children or pets. If you happen to come into contact with the sap while handling the plant, wash your hands right away.
