Prunus persica 'J.H. Hale' ~ J.H. Hale PeachJ. H. Hale Peach is a cold hardy fruiting deciduous tree primarily grown for its mid season crop of freestone fruit. A profuse early spring bloom of showy fragrant pink flowers coat the bare branches attracting butterflies. The red flushed golden fruits with firm tangy sweet flesh ripens in late July. Grows best in full sun and rich, moist well drained soils. JH Hale needs a cross pollinator and has a high chill requirement of 800 hours. Type: Tree

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: High Maintenance. Needs regular watering. Peaches have a lot of pest and disease issues and need regular spraying to ensure good crop. Potential pests include tree borer, fruit moth, root nematodes, and aphids. Late spring frosts can severely damage flower buds. Fallen fruit can be messy if not harvested.
