Limited vinyl LP pressing. 2016 release, the fifth album from Æthenor, the group of eclectic travelers that includes Stephen O'Malley (SunnO))), KTL), Daniel O'Sullivan (Ulver, This is Not This Heat, Grumbling Fur, etc), Kristoffer Rygg (Ulver), and Steve Noble (Brötzmann Trio, N.E.W.). Together they bring their considerable pedigrees into play with unexpected and original results. Contradicting expectations of a massive blow-out of sound, everyone plays with remarkable, effective restraint. Atmospheric and layered, this release features bits and pieces of identifiable rock-moves peeking out from under a thick blanket of hard-to-identify drift. Based on live recordings made on a lengthy tour of Italy in 2010, Hazel has been extensively edited and supplemented, but without losing the elemental sound of a group playing live together. Though there's plenty of weird ambient sound to be heard, this isn't a sound effects/pedalboard record. Like the previous en Form for Bla, Noble's drums anchor the music with spare and considered playing, sometimes lashing out with abstract punctuation, and other times laying out a Can-like groove. O'Malley's guitar is also restrained, providing a bed for O'Sullivan's constantly morphing Rhodes, synths and electronic effects. Kristoffer Rygg contributes a rousing vocal incantation to "Ermanna" and peppers the mix with ghostly modular details. Æthenor's catalog continues to be not like anything else out there right now. Sleeve designed by Stephen O'Malley.

Baki in English!
Format: Paperback
Long awaited! I started getting into Baki about five years ago and since then I've been fully caught up in the series, but I've always wished for volumes to be printed in English so I could have something official and to put on my shelf.
As for the actual product, they did an amazing job putting together an amazing volume! High quality, easy to read, paper itself feels really nice, saw in the details it's actually printed in Japan, so that's cool. Cover is very striking, same for the spine, it'll stand out in your shelf.
That being said, I'm so happy we finally got official Baki volumes in English, it's a dream of mine come true! Will be ordering more volumes.

Excellent volume

I love this volume. It was well done with high quality paper and also has the colored pages of the original Japanese version. I'm not a fan of slip covers, and i feel the same for this volume. The actual cover looks kinda plain and uninspired, but the slip cover looks great (it's done in the art style of later volumes). I do like the texture of the slip cover and i wish it was the actual cover- that's my only complaint. Besides the great paper quality, the pictures are very clean, i forgot how good the art actually is- it's much better on paper than online! The pictures i took don't do it justice! If you're a Baki fan (or if you like martial arts manga in general) i would definitely recommend.
