In fact, we were just lamenting that there are so few really good traditional Barberas made anymore…and then this one popped up! From the highly regarded Barolo vineyard, Bussia in Monforte, the Fenocchio Barbera Superiore has a deep ruby red color with intense youthful aromas of plum, black licorice and a hint of cedar. The palate is dry with great acidity that is well-balanced by intense dark berry fruit and completed by an earthy finish. Enjoy this food-friendly wine with beef, lamb, pizza, red-sauced pasta and mushroom risotto now and over the next five years. This is everything great Barbera should be.
