Perhaps at his greatest as a poet, he was the author of numerous exceptionally fine lyric poems, ballads, and elegies.This convenient dual-language edition, spanning a wide range of styles, forms, and moods, allows readers to savor a rich selection of the poet's verse in the original German -- from "An den Sclaf" ("To Sleep"), written when he was 18, to his last great poem, "Verm chtnis" ("Legacy"), written when he was 80. Several poems from the 1819 volume West- stlicher Divan (Occidental-Oriental Divan) are presented. Excellent line-for-line English translations on facing pages accompany such masterworks as "Prometheus," typical of the Sturm and Drang (storm and stress) period; "Rastlose Liebe" ("Restless Love") and "An den Mond" ("To the Moon"), lyric pieces of intense beauty; and the narrative ballads "Der Fischer" ("The Fisherman") and "Erlk nig" ("Elf King"). Included among the 96 other works are these poems: "Auf dem See" ("On the Lake"); "Zigeunerlied" ("Gypsy Song"); "J gers Abendlied" ("Huntsman's Evening Song"); "Grenzen der Menschheit" ("Limitations of Humanity"); "Der Zauberiehrling" ("The Sorcerer's Apprentice"); and "An Werther" ("To Werther").
For this edition, translator Stanley Appelbaum has provided an informative introduction and a commentary on each poem, which will prove invaluable to students, teachers, and general readers.

Quality frame - turns a puzzle into art

This puzzle frame worked perfectly for my 50cm x 70cm puzzle—it fits exactly and really transforms the finished puzzle into a beautiful display piece. The frame is well constructed and has a clean, finished look that doesn’t come across as cheap plastic. Mounting the puzzle was very easy, and everything sat securely once in place.
It arrived well packaged with no damage, and the protective plastic sheet is a nice touch. It keeps the puzzle safe while being much lighter than glass, which makes hanging and handling easier.
Overall, this is a quality frame that makes your completed puzzle look like real wall art.

Superior construction & reasonable cost!

I had one old picture that was this odd size. I didn't want to spend a fortune, and this fit the price. When it came I was so impressed with the quality. Not glass, but I love the ease of construction with swinging tabs that held the back on instead of those cheap flat pegs you can't get back in the holes.. Excellant, superior. I love it! I hope it comes in more normal sizes as well, like 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 even!

Beautiful Non-Glass Frame

Love this frame!! I'm so in love with the new type of frame backing this one had! I hate those frames that have those tiny thin metal tabs that stick out where you have to bend up/down to remove backing but not this one! It has these really easy to use metal springs that you push down & turn & it easy pops out! Wish frames all came w actual glass! I thought this one had glass but was wrong, it has the thin plexiglass type covering where you remove the clear stickers from front/back. It will work but because I have it used in a bathroom, I will need to get a glass replacement eventually. Love the gold color, it's a really pretty gold, not overly yellow. Overall, I think its a nice frame & such a great value.

Gorgeous Distressed Bronze Frame, Easy to Hang

This bronze frame looks really, really good—honestly, it passes for real bronze at a glance. It has a nice distressed finish that gives it some character without overdoing it.
It’s also surprisingly lightweight, which makes it much easier to hang on the wall. The overall build feels solid, and I don’t see any issues with it coming apart or feeling cheap.
I especially like the back—everything is well thought out, from the sawtooth hangers to the tabs that make it easy to open and insert your print.
I didn’t have my print yet to put in it, or I would’ve included a photo of it fully set up, but I added some pictures to show the detail and the back hardware.
Great-looking frame, well made, and easy to work with. Definitely happy with it.
