Some people think that a cookbook is just a collection of recipes for dishes that feed the body. In Eat My Words: Reading Women's Lives through the Cookbooks They Wrote, Janet Theophano shows that cookbooks provide food for the mind and the soul as well. Looking beyond the ingredients and instructions, she shows how women have used cookbooks to assert their individuality, develop their minds, and structure their lives. Beginning in the seventeenth century and moving up through the present day, Theophano reads between the lines of recipes for dandelion wine, "Queen of Puddings," and half-pound cake to capture the stories and voices of these remarkable women. The selection of books looked at is enticing and wide-ranging. Theophano begins with seventeenth-century English estate housekeeping books that served as both cookbooks and reading primers so that women could educate themselves during long hours in the kitchen. She looks at A Date with a Dish, a classic African American cookbook that reveals the roots of many traditional American dishes, and she brings to life a 1950s cookbook written specifically for Americans by a Chinese migr and transcribed into English by her daughter. Finally, Theophano looks at the contemporary cookbooks of Lynne Rosetto Kaspar, Madeleine Kamman, and Alice Waters to illustrate the sophistication and political activism present in modern cookbook writing. Janet Theophano harvests the rich history of cookbook writing to show how much more can be learned from a recipe than how to make a casserole, roast a chicken, or bake a cake. We discover that women's writings about food reveal--and revel in--the details of their lives, families, and the cultures they help to shape.Binding Type: Paperback

Strength in Numbers
Size: 12 Packs, Style: Lunch Napkin
I have perpetual allergies which cause me to sneeze and sneeze. Buying tissues at supermarket is so expensive, so I took a chance and bought these, and they are great! Soft, strong, and I'm saving a bundle by not spending $3 or more on a small box of Kleenex which lasts maybe 2 days. I recommend these for all-around use. You won't regret it.

Size: 12 Packs, Style: Lunch Napkin
These napkins are great and I am a return customer BUT. I can’t believe all the sudden they raised the price $10. I am not happy at all. I will still buy them but I will use them much less Better for entertainment and my pocket. This is how I fight back when they raise the price.

Great quality
Size: 12 Packs, Style: Lunch Napkin
Napkins arrived quickly. There is a lot of them but we will use them. They are good quality, have not had any rip on us. They absorb liquids and food pretty well, cleans the hands like they should. They feel like normal napkins, soft but tough enough to wipe with. Good product that I will continue using.

Great plated and nice designs to chose from . These are good and strong.
Size: 10 in-140 count
Love these plates for every soy. I normally use paper plates for lunch but I started using them for non messy dinners. We have even used them for spaghetti. They handled the sauce and meaball and sausage with no problem. I would normally U.S. China plates for something like the, I got lazy one night and used these I was pleasantly shocked they worked with no leak through.
