Prince's “final” rehearsal from the “Sign of the Times” period in 1987 is now available from PGA! This is a soundboard recording of the rehearsal for the “New Year's Eve Concert” held at Paisley Park on December 31, 1987. The rehearsal was held just before the legendary special concert with Miles Davis, which was released on DVD, and is not to be missed. The rehearsal was just like the actual concert. “STARFISH AND COFFEE,” which was not performed at the actual concert, and “IT'S GONNA BE A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT,” which was performed with Miles Davis, were performed twice. This is a must-hear recording that captures the careful rehearsals leading up to the concert. Also included is a rehearsal that took place in December of the same year. The band played “HOT THING” as a base for Jesse Johnson's “SHE (I CAN'T RESIST) / CRAZAY,” Sly & The Family Stone's “M'LADY / IN TIME,” James Brown's “GET IT UP OR TURN IT A LOOSE,” and even “March of the Saints” on “HOT THING. The album includes a huge jam session featuring “M'LADY / IN TIME” by James Brown Also of note are rehearsals of “STRANGE RELATIONSHIP,” “SHOCKADELICA,” and “SUPERFUNKYCALIFRAGISEXY,” which were jam sessions with unusual twists and turns not seen in live performances. All of them are highly recommended and compiled in this latest collector's edition as the last recordings of '87!
