"Jim Kelly's life can best be described as "remarkable." Remarkable for its variety, importance, and success." — Jim Roddey, former President, Turner Communications, Inc., former Chief Executive, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania

“BDM’s purchase of the German government-owned technology company, IABG, was a unique venture. Can you imagine? A major military industrial country enabling a foreign-owned company to oversee the development and testing of its major defense and aerospace systems? With the help of Jim, and others, it was an unqualified success."  — Phil Odeen, former CEO, BDM and Chairman, TRW, Inc.

“A remarkable journey and enjoyable read. Jim’s insights into the importance of the CEO and CFO working relationship are invaluable guidance for any CEO building a team.” — Kevin Cheetham, former CFO, SynXis and Custom Inc., Northern Virginia Technology Council Greater Washington 2020 CFO of the Year

“Daring Choices is a great read. Jim Kelly personifies what a true entrepreneur with vision, determination, and a plan can accomplish. His SynXis platform was a revolutionary “game changer” in the hotel reservation space. A fragmented reservation network became connected effectively and efficiently resulting in maximum revenue management and control. Today over 50,000 hotels use SynXis. Kudos!” — John Russell, former CEO, Red Lions and Cendant (Wyndham) Hotels, Past Chairman American Hotel and Lodging Association

“In Daring Choices, Jim Kelly provides insights on how he propelled himself from such diverse professional accomplishments as working with Alice Cooper, to participating in negotiations in the Middle East for the Reagan Administration, to becoming a serial software CEO in the hospitality and aviation worlds. Jim's approaches to proactively creating an adventuresome career are instructive indeed.” — Alexander H. Good, former Assistant Secretary of Commerce and head of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service in the International Trade Administration, former Executive Vice President, Verizon

Good Reading
Format: Paperback
The third book we chose to read for our summer reading program was Not That Pet! I am a nanny of a six-year-old girl going into first grade. It’s fun seeing a child’s eyes light up when a book or story engages their imagination. This story was another hit. This was an entertaining read! This is a rhyming read-aloud story that had us both giggling from the beginning of the story to the end. The main character, Mabel, is allowed to pick the family pet. She is determined to find the perfect pet. Her choices had us groaning, ‘oh nooo’ while shaking our heads and laughing out loud. We couldn’t read fast enough to see Mabel’s next choice. Her final decision was unpredictable. We couldn’t believe the final choice was a…. well, you’ll just have to read the story yourself to find out. The illustrations themselves had us smirking. We took the time to really look at the pages and discovered small details that really added to the enjoyment of the story. We read this story several times which is an indicator that this book is a keeper. Enjoy reading Summer 2023! originally posted at long and short reviews

As good As It Get
Format: Kindle
I read the second book in this cottage series about smart town/village life in the Cotswolds before this first one. Both are so very very good and touching. Can't wait to read the third one in this series. These sapphic HEA romances are as good as it gets.

Sweet, Escapist, and Good Characters
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed the setting of this book. I love a book with a good sense of place. The chemistry between the characters was good and built through the story, I thought the book could have benefited from heavier editing. I appreciated the good dialogue, but it seemed unnecessarily copious at times, putting a drag on the forward motion of the story. Worth my time - absolutely.

Bravo!
Format: Kindle
"For two people who love words, we f***ing suck at communication." These words, uttered near the end of the book, really describe the relationship between Josie and Harriett (Harry). They have both built their careers on the crafting of words, but when it comes to them communicating with each other, there are many misunderstandings, foot-in-mouth moments, and missed opportunities to say how they feel. That, along with each one's hesitation to make the first move, causes the sexual tension to build and build, so when they finally do get together... well, you don't want to miss that! The contrast of Josie, the American, and Harry, the Brit, is fun. The story is heart-warming. The banter is enjoyable and doesn't seem like it's just filling space in the book. The supporting characters are colorful and have depth. I really enjoyed it, so I say, "Bravo, TB Markinson! A standing ovation from me!"
