MAYCO Ritual Glazes | SW442 Orange Bead

Cone 6 oxidation: Produces a dimensional, beaded texture in varying sizes.

Cone 10 reduction: Glaze spreads and softens. Surface texture such as pinholing may occur. No colour change.

Ritual Glazes by MAYCO enhance your pieces with out-of-this-world textures and pops of colour at mid-range to high-fire temperatures. The Beads range of brush-on glaze is designed to produce unique dimensional effects with a raised bead pattern.

Key Features

  • Broad firing range from cone 5 (1,180°C) - cone 10 (1,285°C). Firing at higher temperatures may result in the glaze spreading and softening.
  • Layering with glazes: Beads can be layered to create stunning visual effects, either with different colours within the range, with underglazes/engobes or with other glazes such as MAYCO's Stoneware.
  • Tinting: For custom colours, Beads can be tinted with a 1:4 (Colour Product:Beads) ratio using MAYCO's Stroke & Coat or Stoneware Gloss glazes.
  • Dinnerware Safety: While no toxic materials are used, this range is not recommended for dinnerware due to surface texture. However, it can be used on the outside of functional ware, below the lip line.

Application

  • Stir well. Using a soft fan brush, apply 3-6 coats in alternate directions to greenware or cone 04 bisque. Wait until the glossy sheen is gone before applying subsequent layers. Continue to build coats until hairline cracking develops.
  • Heavier application will produce a more pronounced bead pattern.
  • For better adhesion, dampen the bisque with a sponge before applying.
  • Very heavy application or over-handling may cause the glaze to flake off the ware prior to firing. Handle with care and fire your piece as soon as possible.
  • Beads will retain their dimensional quality when layered over an underglaze or engobe. To help with adhesion, it is recommended to bisque fire the underglaze before applying Beads (rather than applying both to bisque).
  • When layering over or under a glaze such as a gloss, the texture may flatten during firing but can still produce interesting effects, offering a smoother finish.
  • When layering with other Beads, the first coat will be the most prominent. 1-2 coats of each colour are recommended.
  • Darker colours may cause clay body staining after firing.

Note: Tiles shown are fired flat on a white clay body to cone 6 oxidation and cone 10 reduction. The choice of clay body, the thickness of glaze application, the firing process, and temperature will affect the fired results. Because results will vary based on firing conditions and layering techniques, we always recommend trying the glaze on a test tile prior to use.

Works
Size: 8.5"x11"
Works great for sublimation. Get plenty of sheets. Great value for the price. The paper is pretty thick and seems to hold a good amount of ink without smearing.

My go-to sublimation paper for crafting
Size: 8.5"x11"
I've used several sublimation papers, and this one has worked really well for my crafting projects. The colors transfer bright and vibrant, and the images come out crisp with good detail when using the proper sublimation printer and ink. The paper feeds smoothly through my printer and feels like a good quality weight—not too thin and not overly thick. I've used it for tumblers, keychains, and other sublimation projects, and I've been happy with the results. I also appreciate getting 110 sheets in one pack because it lasts a while, especially when working on multiple projects at once. Overall, this is a reliable sublimation paper that gives consistent results and is great for crafters or small business owners.

My Go-To Sublimation Paper — Flawless Results Every Time
Size: 8.5"x11", Size: 8.5"x11"
This is hands down the best sublimation paper I’ve used and the only one I continue to buy. I get a perfect transfer every single time—no fracturing, no fading, and no uneven results. The paper dries fast, which makes my workflow so much smoother, especially when I’m producing items in batches. I use this regularly to make air fresheners and tote bags for my small business, and the color payoff is always vibrant and crisp. The transfer rate is excellent, and it works beautifully on light-colored, high-quality polyester and other sublimation-ready surfaces. If you’re a small business owner or crafter who values consistency, quality, and ease of use, this paper is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend it and will continue to repurchase.

Best Sublimation Paper
Size: 8.5"x11"
I’ve been using A-Sub paper for my sublimation projects, and it is easily one of the best. The ink dries almost instantly once printed, so I don’t have to worry about smudging the design or getting those annoying "pizza wheel" marks from the printer rollers. The paper itself feels substantial and doesn't tear or curl easily. One of the biggest wins for me is that it never jams; it feeds through perfectly every time, saving me the frustration of wasting expensive ink and paper. When I go to press my designs, the ink releases almost completely, leaving very little behind on the paper and putting all that color onto the project. The final results look super professional, with colors that are vibrant and sharp rather than looking faded or dull. It has worked perfectly for everything I’ve tried so far, and if you want a reliable paper that gives you consistent, high-quality results, this is definitely the one to get.
