This book is an excellent introduction to the mathematics underlying the theory.Designed for upper-level undergraduates and first-year graduate students, the book treats three major areas: analysis of channel models and proof of coding theorems (chapters 3, 7, and 8); study of specific coding systems (chapters 2, 4, and 5); and study of statistical properties of information sources (chapter 6). Among the topics covered are noiseless coding, the discrete memoryless channel, effort correcting codes, information sources, channels with memory, and continuous channels.
The author has tried to keep the prerequisites to a minimum. However, students should have a knowledge of basic probability theory. Some measure and Hilbert space theory is helpful as well for the last two sections of chapter 8, which treat time-continuous channels. An appendix summarizes the Hilbert space background and the results from the theory of stochastic processes necessary for these sections. The appendix is not self-contained but will serve to pinpoint some of the specific equipment needed for the analysis of time-continuous channels.
In addition to historic notes at the end of each chapter indicating the origin of some of the results, the author has also included 60 problems with detailed solutions, making the book especially valuable for independent study.

Do it yourself

I purchased a similar set to custom make a dining room table out of butcher block, and it turned out perfect. So with the left over butcher block I purchased these legs and made the perfect kitchen island to match. It is very sturdy and a great price. Everyone wants to know where I purchased it from. I also put a piece of the butcher block across the lower bars and made a lower shelf. Love love love this.

Plan your project right & these will look great!

These are great legs for a table. They are sturdy and go together nicely. The painted finish is well done, meaning it doesn't scratch or peel or come off easily. Also the way things were packaged was considerate of the weight and possibility of damage during shipment. There were even extra attachment screws included which was helpful since I lost one under the dishwasher.
When considering what legs to purchase for your particular table, the height, dimensions, and weight of the top all need to be factored in. I used these bar height legs under a very heavy, 7' long X 2' wide top. Common physics dictates that there will be lateral movement between the 2 "H" shaped leg sets. There HAS to be support between the 2 H leg sets to prevent that lateral movement. So these alone will not support a long table very well, because physics. This is not in any way the fault of this product. Be aware that there is more to the stability equation and be prepared to add cross bracing to your project.

Hold my computer desk top repaired

Counter height table legs are sturdy and it holds a great amount of weight. I was easy to adjust height for the table we needed to be repaired with legs. It was a great choice in repair of computer desk. I had a desk that tore apart because of the press board siding.
Took the top of of siding and repaired with these legs. I am totally satisfied
