Myth, Memory, and Massacre: The Pease River Capture of Cynthia Ann ParkerIn December 1860, along a creek in northwest Texas, a group of U. S. Cavalry under Sgt. In December 1860, along a creek in northwest Texas, a group of U.S. Cavalry under Sgt. John Spangler and Texas Rangers led by Sul Ross raided a Comanche hunting camp, killed several Indians, and took three prisoners. One was the woman they would identify as Cynthia Ann Parker, taken captive from her white family as a child a quarter century before. The reports of these events had implications far and near. For Ross, they helped make a political career. For Parker, they separated her permanently and fatally from her Comanche husband and two of her children. For Texas, they became the stuff of history and legend. In reexamining the historical accounts of the "Battle of Pease River," especially those claimed to be eyewitness reports, Paul H. Carlson and Tom Crum expose errors, falsifications, and mysteries that have contributed to a skewed understanding of the facts. For political and racist reasons, they argue, the massacre was labeled a battle. Firsthand testimony was fabricated; diaries were altered; the official Ranger report went missing from the state adjutant general's office. Historians, as a result, have unwittingly used fiction as the basis for 150 years of analysis. Carlson and Crum's careful historiographical reconsideration seeks not only to set the record straight but to deal with concepts of myth, folklore, and memory, both individual and collective. Myth, Memory, and Massacre peels away assumptions surrounding one of the most infamous episodes in Texas history, even while it adds new dimensions to the question of what constitutes reliable knowledge.Binding Type: Paperback

These are awesome and I couldn't play ball with my Dobermans without it!
Style: Sport, Size: 12in
I LOVE Chuckit ball launchers. We've been using for a around 17 years and we've only had to replace one. We have 2 active, energetic Dobermans and I throw like a girl and there is now way I can throw a ball very far. With the Chuckit, I can throw more than 80 feet! My dogs need a lot of exercise and using this ball thrower allows me to make that happen. Bonus is I dont have to pick up a snobbery ball :)

Not a long shot
Style: Sport, Size: 12in
This item is much smaller than I thought it would be .
The ball is full sized . But the thrower is very small.
Works okay. But does not throw the ball very far . It’s okay for me . My dogs are small. My yard is too .
But , this is not going to throw balls really far . Like the long ones do
Thsnks

I would buy this twice!
Style: Sport, Size: 12in
This Chuckit! Dog Ball Launcher 12M Sport is the perfect product for the dog park! It makes games of fetch so much easier and more fun — the long handle gives great reach, so I can launch balls super far without even bending over, and our dog goes absolutely wild chasing them.
It’s comfortable to hold, works smoothly with 2.5" dog balls, and really saves your arm and back if you’re doing a lot of throwing. The design is sturdy and reliable, so we can play for longer without worrying about it snapping or wearing out.
If you spend time at the dog park or love playing fetch, this launcher turns a regular game into something even better — our pup gets twice the exercise and we get to enjoy every minute of playtime!

Caution can cause addiction
Style: Sport, Size: 12in
My dog has become addicted to tennis balls because of this! She sees the blue handle and she immediately loses her mind! I love it because I don't have to bend down as far to pick up the ball, which is amazing after 2 back surgeries.
