Doug Bennett grew up in New England where he spent much of his time in his early years admiring the natural beauty of the environment and landscape around him- particularly of Cape Cod, where he now considers home. He graduated with a BFA degree from Central Connecticut State University. His work seeks to communicate the richness and uniqueness of the landscape and its relationship to the sea.

      A self-trained artist, launching his painting career after spending much of his professional life in marketing and advertising, he relishes in portraying and celebrating “Life near the water” in his work. Although he is most known for his  “romantic landscape “ work in the representational style, unlike many artists who are defined by a particular style and approach, Doug’s work embraces multiple genres and perspectives from representational work to impressionism and abstraction. 

       His palette tends to embrace the colors, values and hues of the idyllic New England coastline. He works in oil, pencil, conte crayon and charcoal.
