Manufactured in the late 1950s, the elegant Danish Rosewood dining chairs have a wonderful angled shape with enclosed upholstery over the frame to appear as if floating on the lower frame.

The beautiful long coffee table is from the 'Hamilton Rosewood range' an award-winning design for Archie Shine in 1958.

A fabulous collection of six chairs consisting of 2 wonderful carvers and 4 standard Hamilton dining chairs that would fit into any modern or vintage-inspired interior.

Condition: Mid Century Dining Chairs By Archie Shine

In good mid-century condition, it has been carefully cleaned and polished with rosewood oil to preserve its natural original appearance. The seats look original however they may have been reupholstered in the 1970s with stylish turquoise-green wool fabric, which looks in good condition. There are still some minor age-related marks and wear but nothing that detracts from the overall look and functionality of the chairs.

We also have the dining table that matches the chairs it was purchased from the same owner and is from the same Archie Shine Hamilton range of furniture in 1959.

 Provenance

This beautiful Hamilton Dining Table comes from the home of a retired architect in Hampstead, London, who originally purchased the set new in the early 1960s after spotting it in Heal’s. He was drawn to its clean Danish-influenced lines and the rich, almost sculptural rosewood grain—details he felt echoed the modernist principles he admired in his own work.

Over the decades, the table became the heart of many family meals, late-night planning sessions, and lively dinner parties, always admired for its subtle elegance and extending feature that made it so versatile. The turquoise-green wool seat pads were reupholstered in the mid-1970s by a local craftsman, chosen by his wife to bring a pop of colour to their otherwise neutral-toned interior.

As their children grew and moved away, the table was lovingly maintained and occasionally used for special occasions. Now downsizing, the family hopes this cherished piece finds a new home where it can continue to be used and appreciated, just as it was in theirs for over six decades.
