Inspired by reggae, sound system culture and the myriad of musical styles influenced by Jamaican music old and new, The Lions' sound is firmly placed in soul music. "All the guys in The Lions grew up on classic Jamaican records so since we began we have wanted to give our records that same edge and roughness that we grew up hearing on LPs by The Upsetters, Soul Syndicate, The Rockers Band and Roots Radics. The rhythm section was all recorded to tape, the Hammond buzzed a little, fuses blew and good mistakes were left in. We basically made the dusty reggae soul LP WE have been wanting to hear for years." - Dan Ubick (producer). The band draws together a dozen or so of LA's elite reggae and soul forerunners who loosely coalesced as The Lions in 2007. Members of the legendary ska band Hepcat, Deston Berry and Alex Désert, form half of the vocal team, and the latter also has a successful career on screen, including roles in the films Swingers and High Fidelity. The other half is the sweet falsetto of Malik Moore and DJ stylings of Black Shakespeare, the charismatic cousin of Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly & Robbie fame) and co-runner of the i&i Sound System, a customised ice cream van bringing bass to the streets of the west coast and featured on the cover of both Saul Williams' self-titled album and an issue of XLR8R Magazine. Other members include guitarist Dan Ubick, formerly of Breakestra, Macy Gray co-writer and collaborator Dave Wilder on bass, plus musicians who have played with the likes of de la Soul, Barrington Levy, Beck, Raphael Saadiq, Big Daddy Kane and Black Eyed Peas.

Super comfortable

This is actually my second pair of these PocBuds, and that alone should say a lot.
The comfort is outstanding. The earhook design makes a huge difference—they stay in place no matter what I’m doing, whether I’m working, walking, or moving around a lot. I can wear these for long periods without any discomfort, which hasn’t been my experience with most earbuds.
Battery life is another big win. The charging case and battery performance are fantastic. I don’t feel like I’m constantly worrying about charging them, and the digital display is a really nice touch so you always know where you stand. The wireless charging just makes it even more convenient.
Sound quality is solid too, with good bass and clear audio for music, videos, and calls. They’ve been reliable across everything I’ve used them for—phone, laptop, and even TV.
Overall, these have been a great value and very dependable. The fact that I came back and bought a second pair says everything. Highly recommended.

Great small pair of headphones

These are great quality for the price. The microphone is okay and the speakers are good. I wouldn't expect ultra headphones at this size or price. They are great for light music/podcast items. I don't use it for calls much but does work. They are comfortable even if I wear for an hour or two. Very good battery life.

Unbeatable secure fit and battery life, despite a minor audio quirk

Finding earbuds that can survive daily 6:30 AM weightlifting sessions and stay put while I'm moving around the house or out walking the dog has been a challenge. Most standard earbuds slip out the second I lie back on a bench or start sweating. I decided to try these PocBuds specifically for the wrap-around earhook design and the massive promised battery life, and they have largely been a great investment.
First Impressions & Unboxing
The charging case is bulky—which is expected for an 80-hour battery capacity—but the digital display on the front is incredibly convenient for knowing exactly how much juice you have left. The one immediate downside hits you as soon as you put them in: the default system audio (the automated voice that says "power on" or "connected") sounds very compressed and cheap. It momentarily made me worry about the actual music quality.
Real-World Testing
Fortunately, once you get past that initial low-budget start-up voice, the actual audio performance is fantastic. The sound quality is clear, and the deep bass profile is exactly what I need to stay focused during a tough workout.
More importantly, the earhooks work flawlessly. These earbuds simply do not fall out, whether I'm lifting, bending over to do yard work in the Florida heat, or jogging. The Bluetooth range is also highly reliable; I can leave my phone on my gym bag or patio table and move a good distance away without the connection stuttering. Finally, the battery life is no joke. Between the buds themselves and the charging case, I can go weeks without having to plug this unit into a wall.
Pros:
• Rock-Solid Fit: The over-ear hooks keep these perfectly secure during heavy movement and exercise.
• Impressive Battery Life: The 80-hour claim holds up, and the digital battery display on the case takes the guesswork out of charging.
• Quality Audio: Rich sound and surprisingly deep bass for the price point.
• Reliable Range: Maintains a solid Bluetooth connection even when walking away from the connected device.
Cons:
• Cheap System Prompts: The default "Power On/Off" voice sounds robotic and low-quality, which takes away from the otherwise premium feel.
• Larger Case: The high-capacity battery means the charging case isn't as pocket-friendly as standard minimalist earbuds.
The Verdict
If you can overlook the cheap-sounding system voice prompts, these earbuds are a phenomenal value for highly active users. They deliver exactly where it counts: a secure fit that won't budge during a workout, great music quality, and a battery that seems to last forever

I've loved these - great value and performance

I purchased these almost three years ago, and I've taken them out on runs several times a week since then. I've been very satisfied with the ease of use (I've had no trouble at all connecting to my two Android phones and my Mac), sound quality, and battery life. I thought to put up a review today because one of the over-the-ear loops broke after 34 months of use. I've superglued it and will see how it lasts, but, at this price point, I've gotten more than my money's worth, and I'm ready to buy another pair if the ones I have are done.
