Cronatron 7109 Austenitic Carbon Manganese Hardfacing Welding Wire 1/16" Dia - 25 lbs.  Cronatron was developed exclusively for the maintenance industry.  This scientifically formulated welding alloy provides the ultimate in ease of application and maximum in strength, toughness and durability.

Base metal should be free of rust, oil, and scale etc before hardfacing is begun.  Spalled metal should be removed.  On medium or high carbon steels, correct preheat procedures should be adopted.

When Cronalloy is applied by open arc method, high deposition rates are possible.  Cronalloy may be applied to carbon steels, 11-14% Manganese steels, grey cast irons and some low alloy steels.  It should be noted that when welding on 11-14% Manganese steel the base metal must be kept cool (550 Deg F).

On 1020 steel, Rockwell Hardness is 54, 56 with 2 layers and 57 with 3 layers.  The Rockwell hardness for 11-14% Manganese steel is 50 for single layer and 52 for multiple layers.
