Between the War of 1812 and the Civil War, General William S. Harney became one of the best-known military figures in America. In a career aided by Andrew Jackson and the concept of an expansible army, Harney saw duty in virtually every part of the country and participated in most of the key military episodes of his time. He chased remnants of Lafitte pirates in Louisiana, campaigned with Abraham Lincoln and Zachary Taylor during the Black Hawk War, developed Vietnam-style riverine tactics that ended the Second Seminole War, and led Winfield Scott's cavalry in the Mexican War. In the 1850s Harney devised the army's largest and most successful pre-Civil War campaign against Plains Indians, commanded troops charged with upholding federal authority in Kansas and Utah, and almost provoked hostilities with Great Britain in the Pacific Northwest. Removed from command amid false charges of disloyalty during the Missouri secession crisis, he returned as a leading member of the Indian Peace Commission of 1867-68. Harney was bold, ambitious, and innovative, but also impulsive, vindictive, and violent. His career illustrates the nineteenth-century army's role in implementing federal policy, highlights its limited resources compared to its responsibilities, and illuminates key aspects of its organizational structure, the behavior of its officers, and its impact on personal lives.Binding Type: Paperback

Where is the squeak

They seem durable but I needed them to squeak and in order to get a noise out of them you have to really put pressure on the ball...I need a good squeaker for recall w my dog

My Frenchies favorite toy is this Dino
My frenchie loves this squeaky dino toy, it is his favorite even though he has others. the color is vibrant and the fabric makes it easy for him to grab.

An Exceptionally Well Designed Toy So No Wonder Dogs Adore It!
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that not only do different dogs have distinct preferences for different types of toys with specific features, but they also respond much better to toys like this one that are well-made, durable with strong seams that don’t open easily, and that offer multiple characteristics. Although this dinosaur looks rather fierce, it’s a very good toy for very good dogs who like this type of toy! It not only has the crinkles that some dogs love, but it also has a long squeaker inside so the dog can make squeak it in many locations on the toy, and has held up extremely well to daily, energetic play. A frequent visitor to our house, a lovely Border Collie mix of adorableness, loves this toy so much when she visits that I bought another one to send to her house so she never had to be without her cherished dinosaur. :) Watching a happy animal is the best! :) On top of all that, it’s an incredibly good value! I’ve started reading more closely about toys that I consider for our pets because it makes a difference in how they use them and how much they like them. Since the whole goal is to keep our animal friends busy and happy, that makes all the difference to me. :) I hope your dog loves it, too! :)
