Description

The Dust of Death: The Sixties Counterculture and How It Changed America ForeverIn 1968, at the climax of the sixties, Os Guinness visited the United States for the first time. There he was struck by an impression he'd already felt in England and elsewhere: beneath all the idealism and struggle for freedom was a growing disillusionment and loss of meaning. "Underneath the efforts of a generation," he wrote, "lay dust." Even more troubling, Christians seemed uninformed about the cultural shifts and ill equipped to respond.

In 1968, at the climax of the sixties, Os Guinness visited the United States for the first time. There he was struck by an impression he'd already felt in England and elsewhere: beneath all the idealism and struggle for freedom was a growing disillusionment and loss of meaning. "Underneath the efforts of a generation," he wrote, "lay dust." Even more troubling, Christians seemed uninformed about the cultural shifts and ill-equipped to respond. Guinness took on these concerns by writing his first book, The Dust of Death. In this milestone work, leading social critic Guinness provides a wide-ranging, farsighted analysis of one of the most pivotal decades in Western history, the 1960s. He examines the twentieth-century developments of secular humanism, the technological society, and the alternatives offered by the counterculture, including radical politics, Eastern religions, and psychedelic drugs. As all of these options have increasingly failed to deliver on their promises, Guinness argues, Westerners desperately need another alternative--a Third Way. This way "holds the promise of realism without despair, involvement without frustration, hope without romanticism." It offers a stronger humanism, one with a solid basis for its ideals, combining truth and beauty. And this Third Way can be found only in the rediscovery and revival of the historic Christian faith. First published in 1973, The Dust of Death is now back in print as part of the IVP Signature Collection, featuring a new design and new preface by the author. This classic will help readers of every generation better understand the cultural trajectory that continues to shape us and how Christians can still offer a better way.

Works when working outside and heavy activities
Style: SPF 50, Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I use it as an Amazon delivery driver, and it works in the heat and sweat is no issue it does last for 2 hours. Reapplying it is extremely easy, no burns or sun damage to my skin. I can tell you it works cause I’m recovering from skin cancer and it works no problems or anything.

Just ok - too thick to apply evenly
Style: SPF 50, Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Just ok - very thick, so difficult to apply evenly. I use this for outdoor cycling and it works, but it's so thick that it tends to clump instead of smoothly covering the skin.

Excellent mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin.
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Set name: Tube - 3 oz.
I’ve been using the Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen, and it’s become a staple in my routine. As someone with sensitive skin, I really appreciate that it’s fragrance-free and uses zinc oxide, providing great protection without causing any irritation or breakouts. It goes on smoothly, isn't overly greasy, and the water resistance holds up well for outdoor activities. The smart cap technology is a nice touch, too. Highly recommended if you’re looking for effective, non-irritating sun protection.

No chemicals that will be harmful!
Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Set name: Tube - 5 oz. 2-Pack
Ordered this mineral sunscreen looking for something simple and effective, and it’s been a solid option so far. The zinc oxide formula is the main reason I went with it. It doesn’t rely on the same chemical ingredients found in a lot of other sunscreens, which is a big plus if you’re trying to avoid that. It feels like a cleaner option overall. Coverage is good. It spreads evenly and holds up well, even with some water exposure. I’ve used it outdoors for extended periods, and it does its job without needing constant reapplication. It does leave a slight white cast at first, which is pretty typical with mineral sunscreens, but it fades in as you rub it in. Not completely invisible, but manageable. After a few uses, what stood out most is that it doesn’t have a strong smell and doesn’t irritate the skin. It just works without a lot of extras. Compared to standard chemical sunscreens, this feels more straightforward and less harsh, especially for regular use. For the price, it’s a great value. You’re getting strong sun protection without the added ingredients some people try to avoid. If you’re looking for a mineral-based sunscreen that’s effective and a bit cleaner in formulation, this is a solid choice.
