The Complete Comics Of P.L. PublishingP. L. Publishing was one of the handful of short lived late Golden Age entrants into the world of comic publishing. P.L. Publishing was one of the handful of short-lived late Golden Age entrants into the world of comic publishing. They were only operating the latter half of 1951, and not a lot is known about the company itself, including just what ÒP.L.Ó represents (ÒPete and LarryÓ? ÒPositively LudicrousÓ?). Often they are mistakenly called a Canadian company because the pages were printed in Canada, but the evidence shows the pages were assembled in the US, published by a US company, and distributed to a US audience. They operated out of the same Rockefeller Center offices as other comic companies, but the connection, if any, is not known.

The Grand Comics Database doesn't indicate that any of the stories are reprints or leftovers from other series', but there are similarities to some other late-40s series which raise a little doubt about whether some of the stories were unpublished works from cancelled titles elsewhere. P.L. Publishing managed 16 issues, including:

BORDER PATROL (3 ISSUES)
WEIRD ADVENTURES (3 ISSUES)
RED ARROW (3 ISSUES)
WESTERN FRONTIER (3 ISSUES)
ONE-SHOTS: CAPTAIN ROCKET, CO-ED ROMANCES, LOVE LIFE, SAARI ÒTHE JUNGLE GODDESSÓ

THE PUBLICATION OF THIS BOOK (AND MANY MORE) IS ONLY DUE TO THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF ROY THOMAS, KIND OF A BIG GUY IN THE COMICS WORLD

Correct research and good writing
Format: Kindle
I Escaped the Salem Witch Trials is a gripping recreation of what happened in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. It is told from the point of view of one girl who wasn’t swept up in the hysteria that gripped so many of her companions. The characters are believable and skillfully drawn and the reader understands the fear that must have clutched the inhabitants of the small town of Salem. The narrative loses a little steam when it comes to the escape from the Boston gaol, but that doesn’t detract from the historically accurate depiction of these infamous trials. The details have been well researched, and the book’s production values are excellent. I would recommend this to any school children who want to gain some insight into how the witch trials came about, or any parents who want to learn a little about the dark side of our puritan ancestors.

Loved it!! It makes history come alive!!
Format: Paperback
I bought this book for my niece who has enjoyed all of the I Escaped books. I read it too and I can say that this one really makes history come alive! The Salem witch hunt is a disturbing and scary topic but I like how the author makes it relevant to today. The main character Hannah has to stand up to the bullies in a sort of mean girl clique and she is a really strong female protagonist! There’s a lot of interesting facts about the Puritans and about the people involved in the Witch trials too. I highly recommend! Loved it!!

Perfect summer read for children and adults.
Format: Paperback
My daughter recommended this book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and it made me feel grateful that I was not born during this era in history. I felt apprehension, anger and sadness, for the characters in the book, who were wrongfully accused and punished for something they weren't guilty of: consorting with the Devil.
