This Is the Kit is the much beloved musical project of Kate Stables, born in England and based in Paris. Bashed Out is her band's third album, the result of an extended period collaboration with the record producer Aaron Dessner (Sharon Van Etten, Local Natives). Dessner-the co-founder of the Brassland label-is best known for his work in The National. Indeed, the backing band he gathered for Bashed Out combines the talents of This Is The Kit's touring members (Rozi Plain, Jesse Vernon, Jamie Whitby-Coles), alongside a number of session players drawn from the Brooklyn music scene: Bryce Dessner, Thomas Bartlett (Doveman, The Gloaming), Matt Barrick (The Walkmen) and Ben Lanz (Beirut, The National) all made key instrumental contributions. This music is honest, human and human "a folky-lovely slow-rumble. It's rock but of the hangover-friendly, stoner variety; it's folk but at a groovy speed. As notable as the music, however, is front woman Kate Stables, whose voice hearkens back to the classic singer-songwriter era-her distinctive, cutting vocals up front in the mix. It's a self-confidence gained since her previous album, 2011's Wriggle Out the Restless, which made her band a minor institution in the United Kingdom, especially on the radio which has embraced the group. This Is the Kit has received across the board support from BBC 6 DJs Lauren Laverne, Radcliffe & Maconie, Marc Riley, Cerys Matthews, and Mary Anne Hobbs-receiving further play from BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, Jen & Ally, and Phil Taggart. "Wonderful wonderful stuff, " said DJ and Elbow frontman Guy Garvey, before arguing their last album should have made the Mercury Prize shortlist. The Line of Best Fit has already called This Is the Kit an "essential fixture of British folk music for the past 10 years one of a handful of truly innovate songwriters working with the British folk template today. "In America, however, the band is just building up to their breakout moment. Bruce Warren, program director at influential American AAA station WXPN has praised Stables warm and gorgeous voice and we expect similar notices to come across on this new LP. From Kate's earliest year growing up in the UK town of Winchester, she learned that great art takes time. "In some ways the place I grew up is defined by being a Roman Saxon medieval cathedral city, " she explains. "They started building the Winchester Cathedral a thousand years ago and they've been working on it ever since. " It's an exciting moment to join This Is The Kit's continuing musical evolution into a synesthetic, shape-shifting entity "rooted in folk but encompassing elements of psychedelia, alternative rock, and electronic textures and sensibilities. FOCUS TRACKS: "Bashed Out" (#5), "Silver John" (#2) and "All In Cahoots" (#6)RIYL (then): Joni Mitchell, Sandy Denny, Joan Baez, Carole King, Gillian Welch, RIYL (now): Jessica Pratt, Father John Misty, Natalie Prass, Bon Iver, Sharon Van Etten, Jose Gonzalez.

Worth the investment! It lasts!!
Color: Medium, Color: Medium
I have been using this religiously as my foundation for over a year! I love it. It works best for me when I use moistuzer, let it dry enough so you have a little slip. A LITTLE goes a long way and double check the bottle because even when it feels empty it’s not fully empty :) it’s not a full coverage approach to foundation I use an elf glo setting over it in winter . It’s light weight and the SPF was what I was looking for!

Expensive, but a good product!
Color: Fair
Love this product. Comes out of the tube white but changes color as you apply. I find you do need moisturizer on your face to get a smoother application - I tend to mix it with my moisturizer before applying and it works well. Am currently on my 3rd tube of the stuff. A bit pricey, but for my skin it sits better than most other products I've tried and doesn't make me break out or look shiny.

the perfect everyday tinted sunscreen! worth the $$
Color: Light, Color: Light
this product was highly recommended to me by my esthetician. I was hesitant to try it because of the price point, but once I learned I could use my HSA funds I immediately purchased! the product is not overly greasy or oily- it gives a beautiful glow. I would recommend setting with a setting spray or powder for longevity.
the coverage is buildable, but won't be a fix-all for someone desiring full coverage- as an acne girly, I am satisfied with this product while paired with a few dabs of my concealer. it works well with other colorescience products AND with my other everyday makeup products which was a huge plus for me. it doesn't feel heavy on the skin either which was also a huge selling point for me as someone who needs coverage but hates the feeling of a full face.
all in all, I think the product is absolutely worth the money regardless of it being HSA approved or not. I would recommend to anyone who loves wearing makeup but also is looking for something light and effortless.
one note about the shade- I have fair olive skin but tan easily, so I got the shade "light" -but I might try the shade "fair" next time as this shade pulls slightly orange on me. the shade matching can be difficult, but I think that's to be expected with a color changing product.

Looks great on my 67 skin!
Color: Medium
Covers well. I love the color. I bought the medium and tan to cover all seasons. I will mix them as needed. It is sticky all day but it looks great so I'll deal with the sticky! I've tried sooo many tinted high SPF moisturizers and I've finally found one that really looks good.

work well
Color: Light
I recently switched to this mineral sunscreen after having irritation and redness from several chemical sunscreens, and it has made a big difference for me. My skin is sensitive, but this one feels gentle and comfortable without causing burning or itching. It gives me good protection and doesn’t leave my skin feeling worse by the end of the day. Definitely a better option for sensitive skin.
