The HPE B-Series 4x16Gb SW QSFP+ 100m Transceiver is engineered for high-performance Fibre Channel connectivity in HP SAN environments. This 1-pack module delivers four independent 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel lanes in a single QSFP+ form factor, enabling dense, scalable, and plug-and-play storage networking across HP storage and computing platforms. Built to HP’s exacting specifications, it ensures reliable throughput, interoperability, and easy integration with HP storage area networks.

  • Four 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel lanes in one QSFP+ module. This transceiver consolidates high-speed connectivity into a compact, hot-swappable package designed for data centers that need maximum port density without compromising performance.
  • SW (Short-Wave) QSFP+ transceiver for 100m MMF reach. Optimized for short-distance Fibre Channel deployments, delivering robust performance over multimode fiber to support rack-to-rack and adjacent-rack storage networks.
  • 100 meters on Multi-Mode Fiber (OM3/OM4). Supports enterprise-grade fibre infrastructure commonly deployed in data centers, enabling flexible layout and scalable growth.
  • HP-qualified for seamless plug-and-play in HP SAN environments. Verified interoperability with HP storage and computing products, reducing compatibility concerns and simplifying deployment across HP ecosystems.
  • 1-pack transceiver with reliable build quality. Each module is designed for continuous operation in demanding data-center conditions, backed by HP testing and qualification processes.

Technical Details of HPE B-Series 4x16Gb SW QSFP+ 100m 1-Pack Transceiver

  • Form Factor: QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) with four independent Fibre Channel lanes.
  • Data Rate: 4 x 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel lanes (aggregate capability across lanes for high-throughput storage networking).
  • Distance: Up to 100 meters over Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF), suitable for intra-data-center deployments.
  • Fiber Type: Multi-Mode Fiber (OM3/OM4) to support high-density, short-reach storage networks.
  • Wavelength: 850 nm VCSEL per lane, optimized for short-range, high-speed Fibre Channel transmission.
  • Connectors: Typically uses 8 x LC duplex fiber connections (2 per lane) to accommodate four Fibre Channel lanes.
  • Transceiver Type: SW QSFP+ (Short-Wave) Fibre Channel transceiver designed for HPE SAN environments.
  • Compliance & Qualification: HP-qualified for plug-and-play interoperability within HP SAN ecosystems; engineered to meet enterprise-grade reliability standards.
  • Packaging: 1-pack transceiver module, ready for immediate installation in compatible HP hardware slots.

How to install HPE B-Series 4x16Gb SW QSFP+ 100m Transceiver

  • Power down the host or ensure the system supports hot-swappable transceivers before installation.
  • Identify a compatible QSFP+ port in the HP storage or server chassis intended for Fibre Channel connectivity.
  • Gently remove any existing transceiver from the port if applicable, taking care not to damage adjacent components.
  • Align the HPE B-Series 4x16Gb SW QSFP+ transceiver with the port and carefully insert it until it seats firmly with a click.
  • Connect fiber cables to the corresponding LC duplex connectors on the transceiver, ensuring correct polarity and full seating in the connectors.
  • Secure the fiber cables to prevent strain, using appropriate cable management to maintain signal integrity.
  • Power up the system (or resume operation if hot-swapped) and verify link status indicators on the transceiver and host port.
  • Use the management console or vendor software to confirm active 16 Gb/s lanes, negotiated speed, and link integrity across all four lanes.
  • Refer to HP SAN documentation for any vendor-specific steps or firmware considerations to optimize performance and reliability.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the primary function of this transceiver? It provides four independent 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel connections in a single QSFP+ module, enabling high-density, high-speed SAN networking within HP environments.
  • Is this transceiver compatible with non-HP systems? It is designed and qualified for HP storage and computing ecosystems; compatibility with non-HP hardware may vary and should be validated before deployment.
  • What fiber type and distance does it support? It supports Multi-Mode Fiber (OM3/OM4) up to 100 meters, suitable for short-range data-center applications.
  • How many lanes are active and what is the total bandwidth? The module provides four 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel lanes; the aggregate bandwidth depends on the link configuration and fabric topology.
  • Is the transceiver hot-swappable? Yes. Like other HP transceivers, it is designed for hot-swappable insertion and removal in compatible HP equipment, minimizing downtime.
  • Do I need any special cables or breakout adapters? Standard MMF cables with LC connectors are used for the individual lanes. If a breakout configuration is required, ensure you use HP-qualified breakout wiring and adapters per the system documentation.
  • How can I ensure optimal performance? Verify that the host port, mezzanine, or switch supports 4x16 Gb/s FC lanes, confirm firmware compatibility, and follow HP’s recommended cabling and management practices for Fibre Channel SANs.

Do not buy
Color: Green/Black
Do not buy. When I received the watch it did not work and the battery was dead. I bought a new battery and it killed that one as well after about a month.

Inexpensive doesn’t mean cheap.
Color: Black/Orange
After 10 months, zero complaints. Well, I got rid of the horrible NATO strap 🙄. That’s a personal preference. Easy to swap out to whatever you like. Keeps accurate time meaning it’s the same time. I’m not micro analyzing it and the seconds gained/lost. It has a confident look and feel and makes you feel good when wearing it. Sure it’s not high priced but it’s not cheap. Very comfortable, light and not unincumbered. If this is what you’re looking at, you’d be satisfied. Great looking, durable and simple watch. Full confidence.

Budget Seiko Prospex this is not
Color: Black/Orange
Bought this as a cheap work watch, but I guess all the budget went into the solar technology. No date adjust feature, gotta crank the crown over and over to adjust the date. (Also no screw-down crown, but that's expected at this price) Fake diver bezel. Lol why? Cringe as heck. Should of just put a compass bezel on there instead tbh. Cheap plastic crystal, scratches and mars just by looking at it. Okay NATO strap. Falls apart quickly, but it's easily replaceable with a better quality one. Decent lume on the hands, but none on the hour markers even though it looks like there is. Looks cool.

Simplicity
Color: Black/Orange
This watch was received exactly as advertised. First off the watch is economical compared to other watches that advertise the same details. I will say that I have gone through numerous Luminox watches only to be disappointed. This watch fits the bill. It does have solar cells which mean it needs to be exposed to light to keep running, not a problem. Three minutes under my surefire light I am golden. The bezel doesn't rotate actually no big deal for me. I have always required that the bezel moves not anymore after having a bezel that rotates I use it next to never. Here's why, the more I rotate the bezel the more the numbers wear off. The strap on the watch with the catches for the strap are perfect. They actually hold the watch strap in place in lieu of like other big name brands that just flop and slide. As far as everyday use goes this watch is my go to. To be honest I have purchased three. This is the only watch I will wear moving forward, yeah the glass my scratch but even the big names like the Luminox I spoke of earlier scratches too.

Real men wear pink!
Bought for hubby and he's happy! Not a bubblegum pink but a more subtle shade. Pale rose, kind of. Flattering fit, too.
