Protect your critical IT infrastructure with the Eaton Tripp Lite SmartOnline 5000VA UPS. This online double-conversion UPS delivers pristine, uninterrupted power for servers, storage, networking gear, and edge devices. Designed for rack-mount deployments, it combines robust power protection with a built-in step-down transformer to regulate voltages and suppress line noise, ensuring equipment stays online through outages, brownouts, surges, and transient disturbances. With a 6U footprint, an extensive outlet configuration, and an included network management card, it’s ideal for data centers, colocation racks, and edge environments that demand reliability, performance, and ease of management.

  • Professional-grade online protection: This SmartOnline UPS uses double-conversion technology to deliver continuous, clean, and regulated 120/208V output, even when incoming power fluctuates. It isolates connected equipment from input disturbances and provides tight voltage regulation to minimize the risk of data loss, hardware wear, and unexpected downtime.
  • Extensive outlet configuration for flexible power distribution: The unit offers 18 x 5-20R outlets, 2 x L6-20R outlets, and 1 x L6-30R outlet, enabling you to power a mix of servers, storage devices, network appliances, and peripherals from one centralized unit. A single L6-30P input accommodates convenient wall or rack intake connections, while the diverse outlet types simplify provisioning for mixed IT environments.

How to install Eaton Tripp Lite SmartOnline 5000VA UPS

  • Choose a well-ventilated, vibration-free rack location with adequate clearance for cooling and service access. Ensure the rack is securely mounted on a level surface and that there is enough space to access the UPS rear panel for cabling and maintenance.
  • Mount the UPS in the 6U rack space. Use standard U-rack rails and hardware supplied by the manufacturer to secure the unit firmly.
  • Connect the input power with the L6-30P power cord to a suitable 208V/120V circuit, ensuring the circuit can handle the UPS input current. Verify that input breakers match local electrical codes and facility requirements.
  • Connect critical loads to the appropriate outlets (18 x 5-20R, 2 x L6-20R, 1 x L6-30R) to distribute power to servers, storage, and networking gear. Separate mission-critical devices from nonessential equipment when possible to optimize battery usage during an outage.
  • Install the included Network Management Card and connect the unit to your network. Use the provided software portfolio or the UPS’s web interface to configure alert thresholds, shutdown policies, and remote monitoring credentials.
  • Power on the UPS and run the initial startup tests. Allow the battery to reach a healthy state, perform a simulated load test if required, and configure automatic remote shutdown for servers during extended outages to prevent data loss and file-system inconsistencies.
  • Set up runtime targets and any site-specific protection features. If extending runtime, install compatible battery packs in accordance with the user manual and verify firmware compatibility for smooth operation.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What does 5000VA / 4500W mean for my workload?

A: 5000VA (apparent power) and 4500W (real power) describe the UPS's capacity. This unit can reliably back up and protect mid-to-large IT loads such as servers, virtualization hosts, storage arrays, and networking gear. The distinction between VA and watts matters when sizing for both peak power draw and real energy consumption to ensure you have enough headroom during startup surges and peak workloads.

Q: Which outlets are available and how should I use them?

A: The UPS features 18 x 5-20R, 2 x L6-20R, and 1 x L6-30R outlets. Use the 5-20R outlets for typical IT devices and smaller peripherals, reserve the L6-20R outlets for higher-current devices like servers or network equipment, and place the most power-hungry components on the L6-30R outlet. This configuration provides flexible distribution while keeping essential devices on a stable, regulated source.

Q: Is remote monitoring included?

A: Yes. The unit includes a Network Management Card that enables remote monitoring, alerting, and graceful shutdown capabilities. You can manage UPS health, runtime, battery status, and environmental conditions from a centralized console or management software.

Q: Can I extend the runtime, and how is it done?

A: Extended Run support allows longer battery runtime by adding compatible battery packs. This is ideal for sites that require prolonged uptime during outages or for performing orderly shutdowns without losing critical data. Ensure compatibility with your UPS model and follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance for battery modules.

Q: What is the benefit of the step-down transformer in this UPS?

A: The integrated step-down transformer stabilizes voltage and helps regulate the output to a safe and consistent level for sensitive equipment. It provides additional protection against surges, spikes, and line noise, reducing wear on electronics and improving reliability for servers, storage arrays, and network devices in fluctuating power environments.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.
