Famous 4x12 G12M is the Choptones Supercab IR Library created by capturing a Framus* Cobra 4x12 with Celestion* G12M Greenback 25W speakers.

Famous 4x12 G12M is an extensive and systematic capture created with 12 microphones, 8 to 16 positions for each microphone and multiple Mic preamps, for a total of over 300 IRs. The cabinet has a straight front, closed back, solid Poplar construction, and is great for metal and hard rock tones. The speaker is a must have if you like rock. Having evolved through the decades, this amazing speaker is great with low-powered amps and mixed with different speakers"the real voice of rock!

The captures were performed with a motorized mic stand in order to have consistent measurements across libraries.

The microphones used during the capturing session are:

Every microphone was moved to four different horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone and Cone Edge) and two distances, for a total of eight IRs each.

For some microphones, the set of eight measurements was repeated with the microphone off axis (45 deg).

All of the measurement sets were repeated twice with two different Mic preamps: a Neve* 1073 and a German preamp.

This library was created for the TH-U Supercabinet that allows you to:

  • Graphically browse the IRs in the library
  • Blend multiple IRs and create totally custom and huge stereo guitar tones
  • Compose new cabinet tones with the unique Multiband mode
  • Export your crafted IRs in .wav format for use with all major hardware modelers and software IR loaders

It won't filter light all that great and even though it stands on its own, it can be blown over easily - but for the price? Excellent. If I wanted a heavy duty, thicker, more expensive one, I would've bought one. The 2nd one is on the way. Perfect height, no weird smell, nice and light and easy to move around.

It’s really pretty decent except for one thing.

I bought two of these for my basement and they do look great. They were easy to assemble and I’m happy with them. The problem is that the stitching on the fabric panels are almost the size of a machine basting stitch (which for non sewers means large temporary stitches). Because the panels are tight by design, the stitches had already started to come undone before I could finish assembling everything. Fortunately I can sew and I reinforced all the panels. I had to take the first ones back off the poles to do them but I did the second set before assembling. It’s really not a bad product for the money. It’s quality fabric and the design itself looks great. The stitching looks fine but it’s just not substantial enough for the purpose it is supposed to serve. I can’t imagine why it be sewn so insufficiently. I was able to resolve my issue because I can sew. I wasn’t planning on sewing nor did I really have the time. I could have made it myself but I didn’t want to and that is why I purchased this. I ended up using valuable time. The really unfortunate thing is, I have no other complaints. This is a manufacturing problem.
