Keep your garden, fruit trees, and property safe from unwanted birds with this realistic hanging eagle hawk decoy. It uses a natural predator silhouette to scare away pigeons, crows, and other pest birds without any chemicals or noise.

This bird deterrent is made from durable plastic and designed to look like a real hunting raptor. It includes a motorized head that moves when batteries are inserted, adding lifelike motion that prevents birds from getting used to it. Simply hang it in your garden, on a balcony, or near a farm to create a no-fly zone for pests.

The decoy is lightweight and easy to install. It covers a wide area, making it a practical and humane solution for protecting your plants, crops, and outdoor spaces. It works best when moved to a new location every few days to maintain its effectiveness.

This product requires 2 AA batteries which are not included. The realistic coloring and moving head make it a convincing predator that birds instinctively avoid.

Key Features and Benefits

- Realistic eagle hawk design that naturally frightens pest birds

  • Motorized moving head powered by 2 AA batteries for lifelike motion
  • Lightweight plastic construction that is easy to hang anywhere
  • Humane pest control method that does not harm birds or the environment
  • Versatile use in gardens, farms, balconies, patios, and rooftops
  • Weather-resistant material suitable for outdoor use in most conditions

Who Is This For

- Home gardeners who want to protect vegetables, fruits, and flowers from bird damage

  • Farmers looking for a chemical-free way to keep birds away from crops and livestock feed
  • Property owners with fruit trees, berry bushes, or newly seeded lawns
  • Anyone who wants a simple, low-cost solution to bird problems without traps or poisons

Usage Scenario

Mark had a small vegetable garden in his backyard, but a flock of pigeons kept eating his lettuce and pecking at his tomato plants. He tried reflective tape and netting, but the birds always found a way through. After hanging this eagle hawk decoy from a shepherd's hook near the garden, the pigeons stopped coming within a week. The moving head made the decoy look real enough that the birds stayed away for good.

Micro Comparison

Unlike ultrasonic devices that may not work on all bird species or require electricity, this visual decoy uses an instinctive fear response that works on most pest birds. It is also more durable than inflatable owls or reflective tape, which can fade or tear in the weather. The moving head provides an advantage over static decoys that birds quickly learn to ignore.

Questions and Answers

Question: Does this decoy work on all types of birds?

Answer: It works best on common pest birds like pigeons, crows, sparrows, and starlings that naturally fear birds of prey. Some larger or more aggressive birds may take longer to scare away.

Question: How do I install the hawk decoy?

Answer: The decoy has a hanging loop on top. Simply hang it from a branch, hook, or pole in the area you want to protect. Make sure it can move freely in the wind.

Question: Do I need to move the decoy around?

Answer: Yes, it is recommended to move it to a new spot every few days so birds do not realize it is not a real predator. This keeps the deterrent effective.

Question: Is this decoy weatherproof?

Answer: The plastic material is water-resistant and can handle rain and sun, but it is best to bring it indoors during extreme weather or heavy storms to extend its life.

Question: Does the head really move?

Answer: Yes, when you insert 2 AA batteries, the head rotates slowly to mimic a real hawk scanning for prey. This motion makes the decoy much more convincing.

Question: Will this scare away small animals like squirrels?

Answer: It is designed primarily for birds, but some small animals may also be cautious of the predator silhouette. It is not guaranteed to deter squirrels or other mammals.

Account of a Review from a St. Nicholas
I have been representing the spirit of St. Nicholas for children for the past 26 years. I have been everything from a Mall Santa to a part in a Christmas Program at our local church. About ten years ago, I started reading this story to the children of the local cops & firefighters fairly close to Christmas Eve each year from an old tattered children's book. I usually hosted this in my own living room until it got too large to do so. This year we opened that reading up to the community and filled the basement of our local library with children and their parents. I needed something to replace the old tattered children's book with and this fit the bill. The illustrations are beautiful and the words large enough to read in front of a group of children. I wish the pages were a little more robust as they are difficult to turn with white gloves on but that is minor. I cannot recommend this edition of the timeless story enough.

“Twas the Night before Christmas” illustrated by Matt Tavares
Format: Hardcover
Clement C. Moore - “Twas the Night before Christmas” is a perennial holiday favorite of mine. Matt Tavares’ monochrome illustrations are incredible! Mr. Tavares’ version remains true to the text within the original 1823 poem, ”A Visit from St. Nicholas”. As noted - two original reindeer names – Dunder and Blixem. I highly recommend Irish illustrator PJ Lynch 2021 version and American illustrator Matt Tavares 2022 version of Moore’s “Twas the Night before Christmas”.

Tavares' beautiful craftsmanship brings Moore's poem to life
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas is a beautifully illustrated edition of the famed Clement C. Moore poem. Using the original anonymous version of the poem (later attributed to Moore), artist Matt Tavares crafts a series of elegant black and white illustrations that captures its enchantment and whimsy. Additionally, the book’s layout has a simple yet classic design with green trim and subtle pieces of shading that give it a majestic look and feel. One of the best editions of the poem ever published, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas has a bit of magic all its own.

Beautiful book
I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book. I'm very happy to own it and have it as part of our Christmas tradition..a lot more special to me than Elf on The Shelf..which was last years Christmas book purchase.
