As a fixed managed Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for small businesses and branch offices, the Cisco Catalyst C1000-24P delivers dependable performance, robust security, and streamlined management in a compact, easy-to-deploy form factor. This Cisco Catalyst 1000 Series model is purpose-built for simple edge deployments, out-of-the-wiring-closet environments, and IoT-driven networks, offering reliable Layer 2 switching, PoE+ on every port, and integrated features that reduce the days of mass configuration and troubleshooting. The C1000-24P blends Cisco’s renowned reliability with modern management abilities, enabling you to power IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, sensors, and other PoE devices directly from the switch while maintaining strong network segmentation and policy enforcement. It is designed to be energy-efficient, quietly performing in office or classroom spaces, and easy to scale as your network grows. Whether you’re upgrading an aging infrastructure, expanding a retail storefront, or deploying a multi-site campus edge, the C1000-24P provides a straightforward path to a secure, manageable, and future-ready network. In addition to its solid Layer 2 capabilities, this switch integrates with Cisco DNA Center and other centralized management tools, delivering zero-touch provisioning, simplified policy deployment, and proactive monitoring. The result is a dependable, enterprise-class edge switch that aligns with modern IT strategies, including IoT readiness, unified security, and scalable growth without the complexity and cost of larger campus switches.

  • Powerful PoE+ Capabilities in a Compact Form Factor: The 24 PoE+ ports deliver power to IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other PoE-enabled devices, reducing the need for separate power injectors and simplifying cable management. The PoE+ design enables flexible device placement, quicker device boot times, and centralized control over power usage, helping organizations streamline deployments in crowded wiring closets and busy office floors.
  • Rigid Layer 2 Switching with Enterprise-Grade Features: This fixed, enterprise-class switch delivers reliable Layer 2 performance with robust VLAN support, private VLAN options, robust QoS (for prioritizing voice and video), spanning-tree safeguards, and security controls. It provides the stability and predictability small networks rely on for smooth day-to-day operations, while enabling secure traffic segmentation and policy enforcement across campus-edge segments.
  • Flexible Connectivity for Growth: Four 1-Gigabit SFP uplink ports offer scalable, high-speed connections to core networks, aggregation layers, or distribution switches. This flexibility allows you to create resilient access layers, implement link aggregation (LACP) for higher throughput, and design fault-tolerant topologies that accommodate network growth without requiring a forklift upgrade.
  • Simple Management with Cisco Reliability: Powered by Cisco IOS XE-based software, the C1000-24P provides a familiar management experience through a browser-based GUI and CLI. It also supports integration with Cisco DNA Center for centralized provisioning, monitoring, and policy enforcement, enabling zero-touch deployments and streamlined lifecycle management across multiple sites with minimal IT overhead.
  • Energy Efficiency and Quiet Operation: The Catalyst 1000 Series is engineered for low power consumption and quiet operation, making it ideal for network closets, small offices, classrooms, and other environments where noise and heat matter. The switch delivers dependable performance while keeping energy usage in check, helping reduce operational costs over time.

How to Install Cisco Catalyst C1000-24P Ethernet Switch

Installing the Cisco Catalyst C1000-24P is a straightforward process designed for quick and reliable deployment in small office environments. Before you begin, confirm you have a properly rated power source, a clean wiring closet or equipment rack, and a management workstation or laptop with network access to the switch. Start by mounting the switch in a suitable rack or placing it on a stable surface with adequate airflow to ensure cooling. Connect the 4 x 1-Gigabit SFP uplinks to your network core or distribution layer, using fiber or copper modules as required by your topology. Next, connect the 24 PoE+ ports to endpoint devices—IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, door sensors, and other PoE-enabled devices—arranging cables in a tidy, labeled fashion for easier maintenance. After cabling, apply power and allow the switch to boot, then access the management interface through a browser or the CLI using your preferred IP address. Configure basic settings first, including administrator credentials, a secure management VLAN, and a stable time source. Then proceed to configure VLANs to segment traffic, enable QoS policies to prioritize voice and video, and implement security features such as port security, DHCP snooping, and 802.1X authentication to protect access to the network. If you are deploying across multiple sites, consider enabling Zero-Touch Provisioning by integrating with Cisco DNA Center, which allows you to push a common configuration to all devices in minutes rather than hours. Finally, update the switch to the latest stable firmware from Cisco’s official portal to ensure you have current security patches, feature enhancements, and performance improvements. Validate connectivity by testing device reachability, verifying PoE delivery to endpoints, and monitoring uplink status for link integrity. Maintain a documented change log and network diagram to simplify future upgrades or troubleshooting. With proper planning and a methodical setup, the C1000-24P delivers a reliable, scalable edge solution that grows with your organization while remaining easy to manage.

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.
