Why a Template Beats Freehand Application
Freehand thermal paste application on a densely populated hashboard is slow and inconsistent. Too much paste squeezes onto surrounding components, too little leaves air gaps that insulate instead of conducting heat. This template masks everything except the chip surfaces, so a single pass deposits the correct amount exactly where it's needed. The result is uniform thermal contact, lower peak temperatures and more stable hash rate across the board.
How to Use
Clean the existing thermal paste from all chip surfaces and the heatsink contact faces. Align the template over the hashboard so the cutouts register with the chip positions. Apply fresh thermal paste with a scraper in one pass. Lift the template vertically. Mount the heatsink immediately while the paste is still wet. Clean the tool with IPA for reuse.
