Fennel Florence grows up to 5 feet tall and produces flowering stems that stand approximately one foot and support showy, flat-topped umbels of little golden flowers.
Fennel Florence has an elongated root that resembles a carrot. All parts of this Fennel are aromatic, imparting a sweet anise, or licorice, scent and flavor. Fennel Florence differs from regular fennel because the stalk forms an edible bulbous base that fades to white. The bulb, foliage, and seeds of the fennel plant are widely used in many of the culinary traditions of the world. Easily started from Foeniculum Vulgare seeds, Fennel Florence is grown best in rich, light soil in a warm location, and the ample watering is required so that the bulbs will form properly.
