Fitting and handling
Allow the lining set to acclimatise for at least 48 hours in the room where it will be fitted before installation, keeping it flat and supported along its full length to prevent any bow or twist developing. Fix through the lining into the trimmer studs using screws rather than nails where possible, packing as needed to achieve a plumb and square frame before hanging the door. Once fitted, apply your chosen paint, primer, stain or varnish promptly to all faces and edges, including the back face, to help stabilise moisture movement and maintain a consistent finish.
FAQ
Does this lining set include a door stop?
No, door stops are not included with this set. This gives you the flexibility to fit your preferred planted stop or use a separate staff bead system to suit your door thickness and style.
Will this lining set fit a non-standard wall thickness?
This set is designed specifically for 5-inch (approximately 125mm) timber stud walls. If your wall is a different thickness, you may need to rip the lining down or source an alternative width. Contact Nottage Timber Merchants for advice if you are unsure.
Can I use this lining set with a 686mm door?
This set is sized for 762mm and 838mm door widths only. The reversible head accommodates both of those sizes, but it is not designed for 686mm doors. We recommend checking your rough opening dimensions before ordering.
