Ґабріель Ґарсія Маркес (1927-2014) – колумбійський журналіст, видавець і політичний діяч, один з найвидатніших письменників ХХ століття. Засновник літературного напряму 'магічний реалізм'. На початку 1960-х років Маркес переїхав з Колумбії до Мексики, і у 1981 році попросив політичного притулку. Роман 'Зустрінемось у серпні', над яким Ґабріель Ґарсія Маркес працював в останні роки свого життя, уперше опубліковано через 10 років після смерті автора — у березні 2024 року, до 97-ї річниці з дня його народження.  Це перший і єдиний роман письменника, центральним персонажем якого є жінка. Ана Магдалена Бах, здавалося б, щасливо живе в шлюбі зі своїм чоловіком ось уже 27 років. Попри це, щороку в серпні вона вирушає на острів, де поховано її матір. І щоразу заводить там  нового коханця на одну ніч, стаючи зовсім іншою людиною, проте розриваючись між пошуками свободи й відчуттям провини.  Ухвалюючи рішення про публікацію цього твору, сини Ґарсія Маркеса зазначили, що в ньому є чимало достоїнств. І ніщо не може завадити 'насолоджуватися найвидатнішими рисами прози Ґабо: нестримністю фантазії, поетичністю мови, захопливою оповіддю, глибоким розумінням людей і співчуттям до їхніх переживань та нещасть, особливо в коханні, яке, можливо, є головною темою всієї його творчості'.

The book has some good twists and turns, but truthfully I was so confused on some things. It didn't have a good flow for me personally. Not sure if it's due to typos or using him/her wrongly, but I thought Kelly was both a guy and a girl. Actually I still don't know, and it made me incredibly frustrated. It would refer to Kelley as him or he, and then again in another part of the story as her she and sister. On to the next book, I hope there is some clarity and a smoother flow. This is a slow burn, and I just don't know how much I care for the Alphas yet. Idk if I recommend.
