人形劇 "パンチとジュディ"（原題 "Punch and Judy"）ー キング の パペット（操り人形）

人形劇「パンチとジュディ」は、イギリスの人形劇とそのキャラクター、およびイギリスを中心とした英語圏の童謡であるマザー・グースの1編です。起源は14世紀のイタリアの伝統的な風刺劇「コメディア・デラルテ」。この劇がイギリスに伝わった際の初演はロンドンのコヴェント・ガーデンにおいて1662年5月。イギリス国民の人気を集めており、夏の海岸やキャンプ場など人の多く集まる場所でよく演じられる他、毎年10月最初の日曜日に「パンチとジュディ・フェスティバル」がコヴェント・ガーデンで開かれています。 また、2012年5月12日・13日の2日間にわたって「パンチとジュディ」350周年のフェスティバルがコヴェント・ガーデンで行なわれました。アンティークのパペットは非常に人気が高く世界中にコレクターも多いです。
