Книга 1. Looking at Women, Looking at War

A War and Justice Diary from Ukraine, with a foreword from Margaret Atwood

WINNER OF THE ORWELL PRIZE

WITH A FOREWORD FROM MARGARET ATWOOD

'This book would always have been important evidence that the Ukraine people were suffering criminal attack. Written by a poet, it is also a work of literature, published after the author lost her life doing her research. It is an icon of a young woman’s heroism' Philippa Gregory

Destined to be a classic, a poet's powerful look at the courage of resistance.

When Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Victoria Amelina was busy writing a novel, taking part in the country's literary scene, and parenting her son. Then she became someone new: a war crimes researcher and the chronicler of extraordinary women like herself who joined the resistance. These heroines include Evgenia, a prominent lawyer turned soldier, Oleksandra, who documented tens of thousands of war crimes and won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2022, and Yulia, a librarian who helped uncover the abduction and murder of a children's book author.

Everyone in Ukraine knew that Amelina was documenting the war. She photographed the ruins of schools and cultural centers; she recorded the testimonies of survivors and eyewitnesses to atrocities. And she slowly turned back into a storyteller, writing what would become this book.

On the evening of June 27th, 2023, Amelina and three international writers stopped for dinner in the embattled Donetsk region. Whena Russian cruise missile hit the restaurant, Amelina suffered grievous head injuries, and lost consciousness. She died on July 1st. She was thirty-seven. She left behind an incredible account of the ravages of war and the cost of resistance. Honest, intimate, and wry, this book will be celebrated as a classic.

Книга 2. Ordinary People Don't Carry Machine Guns

A reporter and novelist who is also a soldier in the Ukrainian army reconsiders his pacifism and the choices one makes when war is waged against you.

'Chapeye represents a modern-day Ukrainian counterpart to classic American writers like Mark Twain or O. Henry, capturing the dignity and respect his characters might not get but nonetheless long for and deserve. . . . —Kate Tsurkan, Los Angeles Review of Books

In Ordinary People Don't Carry Machine Guns, Artem Chapeye reveals his war, intimate and senseless, withholding nothing about his motivations, his nightmares, his new relationship with the world. Here one man, a pacifist turned fighter, a story writer turned soldier considers the reasons for and reactions to war on a very personal level.

Chapeye investigates his role in the Ukrainian people’s defense against the Russian army and his responsibilities as a father, a writer, a soldier, and a man of conviction. An avowed pacifist until 2022, Chapeye joined the Ukrainian army in the first days of the invasion. He tries to understand the large-scale decision-making that has a defining impact on both individual citizens and many of his fellow soldiers never considered enlisting before finding themselves at war; others fled the country. He wonders what his young children at home are doing and what they’re feeling.

The book has three parts, offering historical analogies and literary references throughout.

“When Darkness Comes” relates the first days of the full-scale invasion in February 2022 when lives and the peace were shattered.“It’s Necessary to Cultivate Your Garden” details the experience of the everyday people of Ukraine, workers and peasants, who look forward to returning to simpler lives. The last section, “People Aren’t Divided into Brands,” critiques the elitism of those who consider themselves above those who “simply” fight.

Deeply thought-provoking, intelligent, and heartbreaking, this is an essential book for anyone who wants to understand the ways that war can change everything.

Книга 3. The Language of War

When everyday life becomes a state of emergency, how can yesterday’s words suffice?

‘We were so happy and didn’t know it…’

A thirty-three-year-old writer lives in a quiet European suburb with his wife and his dog. His parents have bought an apartment nearby. On weekends they go out for brunch, cook and see friends. Life is good; it is normal. Then the invaders come. The Language of War is about what happens when your world changes overnight. When you wake up to the sound of helicopters and the smell of gunpowder. When your home is hit by shells or broken into by gunmen, and you spend another night in a basement-turned-bomb shelter. When, even though you’ve never held a weapon before, you realise the only choice is to fight back. It is about things one can never forget, or forgive.

Bringing together Oleksandr Mykhed’s vivid day-by-day chronicles of the invasion of Ukraine with a chorus of other voices – his family, friends in exile, those who have fought and have witnessed unimaginable atrocities – this book is both a record, and a reckoning. Haunting and timeless, it asks how it is possible to find the words to describe a new reality; how you can still make sense of the world when the only language you can speak is the language of war.

This tallow and honey balm is a really good product!
I really like this Tallow and honey balm. Actually, I use it as a face cream and it is really smooth. What I like the most is that it’s not really greasy feeling when you put it on but once it’s absorbed into the skin your skin feels smooth. You don’t need much either. It comes with a little scoop so that you aren’t sticking your fingers in it. I’m glad I tried it because it is a good value. Another thing, it smells really good and I think it’s because of the ingredients of tallow and honey.

Hoping to reduce redness
Having this product for only a few days I will say I think my skin feels less dry. I am hoping that over time it will help reduce the redness of my face due to rosacea. So far I like it.

must-try. Five stars from me!
Size: 4.2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I recently tried the **ELBBUB Whipped Tallow Cream**, and I can confidently say it's one of the best skincare products I've ever used! From the moment I opened the jar, I was struck by the light, fluffy texture that feels luxurious and indulgent. This cream absorbs beautifully into the skin, leaving it feeling incredibly soft and hydrated without any greasy residue. It’s perfect for daily use and works wonders on dry areas, especially during colder months. My skin feels plump and nourished, and I've noticed a significant improvement in its overall texture and appearance. The ingredients are clean and wholesome, giving me peace of mind about what I'm putting on my skin. I also appreciate the subtle, natural scent that isn’t overpowering, making it suitable for anyone sensitive to strong fragrances. What truly sets this cream apart is its versatility. I’ve used it on my face, hands, and even as a body moisturizer, and it performs flawlessly across the board. It's become an essential part of my skincare routine, and I can’t recommend it enough! If you’re looking for a rich, effective moisturizer that truly delivers, the ELBBUB Whipped Tallow Cream is a must-try. Five stars from me!

So soft I love!!
Size: 4.2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have been using this tallow cream for months now and my skill feels so moisturized every time I use it. I have had it for a while and still have half of the jar left so, a little does really go a long way. I really wanted to switch to a natural product to avoid putting harsh/unnecessary chemicals on my face. I also have pretty dry skin which was another big reason why I wanted to try tallow for my face. It is fragrance free which is I do like. I have not noticed much of a change in my skin appearance, largely because I do already have good skin but I love the way it makes my face feel. I did not notice any major breakouts when I started using this product, though I have never had sensitive skin. My boyfriend does have sensitive skin though and he uses it from time to time and has never complained about breakouts. I think this product is worth trying, though everybody's skin is different so you just have to test it out and see!
