Geophagus Rio Negro 4cmOverview: The Geophagus Rio Negro is a stunning freshwater fish known for its graceful sand-sifting behavior and vibrant colors. A standout in any aquarium, this species adds a touch of the Amazon with its peaceful demeanor and beautiful appearance.
Origin: Native to the Rio Negro basin in South America, the Geophagus Rio Negro thrives in environments that mimic their natural habitat—soft, acidic water with a sandy bottom. They are part of the Eartheater cichlid family, renowned for their unique feeding habits.
Feeding: This species is omnivorous with a preference for a diet that includes a mix of high-quality flake food, pellets, and live or frozen treats such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. Their sand-sifting behavior means they will also consume small organisms found in the substrate, providing them with a natural and varied diet.
Tank Mates: The Geophagus Rio Negro is best kept with other peaceful fish of similar size. Suitable tank mates include larger tetras, peaceful cichlids, and catfish. Avoid aggressive species that may intimidate or harm these gentle giants.
Aggression: This species is known for its peaceful nature and is rarely aggressive towards other fish. However, males can show territorial behavior during breeding. Providing ample space and hiding spots can minimize aggression.
Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists, the Geophagus Rio Negro requires a bit of experience due to its specific water parameter needs and diet. Knowledge of maintaining a balanced and stable aquarium environment is essential.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 77-84°F (25-29°C)
- pH: 5.5-7.0
- Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
- It's crucial to maintain clean and well-oxygenated water, performing regular water changes to ensure their health and happiness.

Metric Hardware

Works fine. This has metric hardware, which does not match the other two relays on my vintage mercury outboard. This is not a quicksilver part
