Un certa balsamicità apre poi ad un assaggio elegante, fresco, di gran beva e dalla trama tannica incisiva, il cui finale si ricorda per pulizia e persistenza.Questo "Pinot Nero" della cantina Cloudy Bay è un prodotto dalla grande eleganza e delicatezza. I vigneti provengono da una sottozona selezionata nella valle del Wairau. La fermentazione avviene dopo la diraspatura in contenitori di acciaio inox. Dopo tre settimane a temperatura controllata, il prodotto fermentato viene trasferito in botti di rovere francese dove affina per circa 11 mesi. Un prodotto che saprà conquistarvi con la sua pulizia e freschezza.
Ottimo se abbinato ad un filetto di scottona e porcini.

Great read

I really like this one. Even though the Poppy character is a bit stubborn and won’t accept she is not really a detective, yet. The rest of the characters and plot delightful. I’m already looking forward to the next one.

What a wonderful mystery, a grand heroine who is polishing her detective skills.
All the pomp of the gentile classes at their play. Murders, theft, and dogs in the highlands, what could be better?

Promising start to new mystery series.

Lady Persephone "Poppy" Proudfoot attends a house party at an estate, meets some American actors, and tries to solve the murder of a stranger to the village whose body is discovered by the lake. The first in a series, this book is a quick read with a plot that moves along, although some of the large cast of characters seem superfluous (e.g., the American visitors). Poppy is a widow, a law-school graduate (in the 1920s!), and ran a hospital for wounded soldiers during WW1, so an interesting character to read about. A promising beginning to the series and I look forward to the next book. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the eARC.
