Dolomite Sand 1-1,5mm

Grain size: 1-1,5mm. -stabilises pH and hardens the water -perfect for rock biotopes: Tanganyika, Malwai, Lake Victoria -giving an alkaline reaction. The fish that inhabit these lakes do not live in the ooze (up to 0.5mm) but in the sand 0.5< 2mm which also allows the gills to be cleaned.

Some of the used sands have very little influence on the chemical values of water. It is therefore advisable to use such materials for the substrate of Tanganyika aquarium which would have a high content of magnesium reacting with our water. Such rocks include DOLOMITES.Metasomatic dolomites were formed in the process of metasomatic transformation of limestone (calcite) deposits. In this process, the calcium carbonate they contained was partially displaced by magnesium carbonate. The source of magnesium in these transformations was sea water.

Before use, we recommend that you only pre-wash the substrate, please do not do this thoroughly because it is a never-ending work. After pouring out the substrate into the aquarium and covering it with water, a natural cloudiness may occur, which will disappear very quickly after starting the filtration.
