Battery chemistry is highly sensitive to temperature. Lead-acid batteries require voltage compensation of approximately -16 mV/°C per 12V cell to avoid overcharging in heat or undercharging in cold. Lithium batteries demand precise thermal limits to prevent charging below 0 °C, which can cause irreversible damage. The Victron Temperature Sensor provides the data your Victron system needs to automatically apply these corrections, safeguarding your investment and maximising usable capacity.

In systems without temperature sensing, chargers operate on fixed voltage setpoints. It is not designed for prolonged exposure above 70 °C, so avoid mounting it directly on engine blocks or exhaust components. The cable can be shortened or extended using standard wiring practices; ensure connections are secure and protected from moisture.

This sensor is not compatible with the BMV-7X2 series battery monitors, which use a different sensing input. For those devices, please refer to the dedicated BMV temperature sensor accessory.
