Like when feedback squalls and big chords fill out a sweet top melody. Or when the lead singer sounds lazily pitch perfect, sweet when their words are scary, and muscular in their restraint. Or when tape hiss and toy keyboards blend dizzily. The Asheville sextet’s second album, I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone, centralizes noise in its delicate arrangements, letting blown out lap steel take the lead over picked patterns that swing from Swirlies to Sparklehorse to plain chaos. Frontperson and songwriter Karly Hartzman narrates Americana vignettes about faith, fear and power, set against small town scenery – billboards, tall grass, parking lots, filling stations. Her storytelling impulses make sense considering the album and one of its songs are named for Richard Brautigan shorts; the band’s self-descriptor of “countrygaze” makes sense, too (see: “Love Has No Pride (Condemned),” a Bonnie Raitt nod with time signature changes.) In high school I made a mix for a classmate, and she told me all the songs sounded too similar. But I think she got into Ayn Rand in college, which kind of invalidated her critique. And anyway, I don’t have a disc drive anymore. Guess I’m just gonna have to keep Wednesday’s cassette all to myself."

These hold up very well

I have NO luck with pillows. I’ve been in stores & tried them. They seemed ok there. At home, nope. I’ve been getting headaches & neck aches from lousy pillows. I’ll change one, a few nights relief. It doesn’t help that I’m prone to headaches. After reading about different pillows, I settled on these. The reviews were better than so many different ones I was looking at. Including high priced & brand names. I bought the standard size. When I saw, “Customers Usually Keep This”, I kept my fingers crossed. When I received them, I took one out of the package & put my head on it & thought, oh no! This is too hard! I tried it again. Ok….. I slept on it & haven’t had any pains since. It’s soft but firm enough to keep my head from sinking & messing up my neck. I don’t move. No more flipping my pillow over. My head doesn’t go below my neck anymore! This has been 2 months now, but it hasn’t changed at all. I wake up happy, not complaining. No more pains or headaches. This saved me from losing days with a heating pad or an ice pack. The price was excellent for 2 pillows. I can’t believe a blind buy was the answer! These are incredible. Finally, something worked for me.

Awesome Pillows!

These pillows are super soft! I love them. I bought them when I caught a bad cold and needed to prop myself up. Worked so great! Definitely give these pillows a try. They're very reasonably priced too.

Cozy & Comfortable

This pillow was a big surprise! Despite the size, it is so soft & comfortable. Being able to add & subtracting filling is wonderful. It's like having a custom pillow just for me. I am a stomach sleeper. I am able to cuddle the pillow & be very comfortable. Plus it recovers it's shape.

Overall a great pillow

I slept on it last night and I do think I’ll like it. I was used to a memory foam pillow, son this will be a change. My reason for 4 stars is because the zipper barely opens and my husband and I tried everything short of ruining the pillow. In the end I had to stuff extra stuffing into a pretty small hole. Nothing seems wrong with the zipper but I saw another review said they couldn’t add more filling. If they fix that issue then I’d rate it 5. Yes it is soft but it doesn’t go flat and if you adjust and add some more under your head it doesn’t shift. I do recommend if you like a plush pillow.
