The S.T. Dupont Line D Atelier Fountain Pen - Sunburst Green showcases the extraordinary decorative expertise that has made S.T. Dupont one of the most respected names in luxury craftsmanship. Part of the prestigious Atelier collection, the Sunburst Green transforms the classic Line D silhouette through a mesmerizing radial guilloché pattern and richly layered lacquer finish that captures both light and depth in remarkable ways. The result is a writing instrument that bridges traditional decorative arts and contemporary luxury design, offering an experience that feels as captivating visually as it does in hand.

Unlike many modern writing instruments that rely upon bold themes or commemorative narratives, the Sunburst Green derives its appeal from pure craftsmanship. Every detail is centered around the interaction of engraved metal, lacquer, and light. The pen demonstrates that exceptional artistry does not always require elaborate symbolism; sometimes the beauty of materials and technique is more than enough.

Craftsmanship & Design

The defining feature of the Sunburst Green is its striking guilloché pattern. Precision-engineered rays extend outward from the center of the barrel and cap, creating a dynamic sunburst effect that transforms with every movement of the pen. This decorative technique has long been associated with some of the finest luxury objects in the world, requiring exceptional precision to produce the crisp, repeating geometry that gives the pattern its visual energy.

Over this engraved foundation, S.T. Dupont applies translucent green lacquer that allows the underlying guilloché to remain visible beneath the surface. The combination creates remarkable depth, as light penetrates the lacquer before reflecting off the engraved metal below. Depending on lighting conditions, the finish shifts between deep emerald, rich forest green, and brilliant jewel-like highlights.

The result is a finish that feels almost alive. Unlike flat color applications, the Sunburst Green continuously reveals new dimensions as it catches changing light. This interaction between engraving and lacquer has become one of the hallmarks of S.T. Dupont's finest Atelier creations, elevating the pen beyond mere functionality into the realm of decorative art.

Complementing the vibrant green finish are polished palladium-plated appointments that provide contrast without competing for attention. The elegant clip, carefully proportioned trim, and refined details reinforce the sophisticated character of the Line D collection while allowing the guilloché work to remain the visual centerpiece.

The Atelier Collection

The Atelier collection represents S.T. Dupont's dedication to traditional decorative craftsmanship. The name itself references the workshops where master artisans transform raw materials into finished luxury objects through skill, patience, and attention to detail.

Within the broader S.T. Dupont catalog, Atelier models occupy a special position because they emphasize artistry and finishing techniques rather than thematic decoration. The focus is placed squarely on craftsmanship itself, showcasing the expertise required to create surfaces of extraordinary depth and complexity.

The Sunburst Green exemplifies this philosophy perfectly. Rather than telling a story through imagery or symbolism, it tells a story through process. Every reflection, every shift in color, and every subtle highlight is a direct result of the techniques used to create the pen.

Writing Experience

The Line D platform has long been regarded as one of S.T. Dupont's flagship writing instrument designs. Its proportions strike an ideal balance between presence and comfort, creating a pen that feels substantial without becoming cumbersome during extended writing sessions.

The fountain pen is fitted with a 14-karat gold nib that delivers the smooth, controlled writing experience expected from a luxury French writing instrument. Responsive performance, consistent ink flow, and careful tuning create a writing character that feels refined and dependable across a wide variety of writing styles.

The fluted grip section provides subtle tactile control while maintaining visual continuity with the rest of the design. The cap closes with S.T. Dupont's signature "cling," a distinctive sensory detail that has become one of the maison's most recognizable trademarks and a hallmark of its engineering precision.

Collector Significance

Collectors are often drawn to writing instruments that successfully combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, and the Sunburst Green achieves that balance exceptionally well. While many luxury pens rely on limited production numbers or historical themes, the appeal of this model lies in the extraordinary quality of its execution.

The combination of guilloché engraving and translucent lacquer has long been associated with some of the most prestigious decorative arts traditions in Europe. By incorporating these techniques into the Atelier collection, S.T. Dupont demonstrates a commitment to preserving craftsmanship that might otherwise be lost in an era of mass production.

For collectors of S.T. Dupont writing instruments, the Sunburst Green represents one of the most visually captivating expressions of the Line D platform. It is a pen that rewards close observation, revealing new details and nuances with every encounter while remaining elegant enough to serve as a distinguished daily writer.

Ali and the guys
Format: Kindle
The story of a lost art student that needs direction. Decides to nanny for a winery owner and his best friends/employees. Fires and lockdowns happen and relationships start. Lots of spice sometimes a little too much I found myself skimming over the parts. Happy ending

Artist Inspiration
Format: Kindle
Ali Fairfax is a twenty-seven year old painter. She is going to an interview for a job as a nanny. She wants to go to art college but has no portfolio pieces to submit. For the last year, her mind goes blank the second she picks up a brush. The nanny interview is at Ashford Winery. Luke Ashford has a son named Charlie who is almost five. Beckett Montgomery is one of Luke’s best friends and he helps Luke run the winery. Hunter Jones is Luke’s other best friend and he is the marketing director for the winery. The men have been running the winery for the last year or so. Charlie likes Ali and so does Luke, so he hires her. Charlie is into reptiles and he also makes Ali make a grilled cheese sandwich for his snack. Hunter comes in the kitchen to tell them that the winds have shifted and there are wildfires nearby. All the roads in or out of the valley are closed down for now. Ali is stuck at the winery with the men and Charlie. Interesting dynamic between the three best friends. I loved that being stuck at the winery inspired Ali to start painting again. I enjoyed the story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So So Good
Format: Kindle
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review. In this book we meet Ali Firfax, Luke Ashford, Beckett Montgomery, & Hunter Jones. Ali is ready for a new adventure in her life. Though her mother worries about her she is determined to do her own thing. When she gets to the house though she can't believe how attractive all the men who live there are. Luke's first priority is defiantly his son, one look at Alit though has him wondering if he has been to narrow minded. When he two roommates realize who Ali is they will do anything they can to keep her there. When mother nature tends to help them they know they will do anything to keep her. Can they all find a HEA or will mother nature make sure none of them have a future? Amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Fire 4 ¾ stars
Format: Kindle
Set against the backdrop of California fires, this is a story of Ali finding her forever family. Luke, Becket and Hunter own a winery that is close to the fire. Every day is a wait and see if they are going to lose their home. Ali, an aspiring artist, applied to be the nanny to Luke’s son. The attraction was obvious from the very beginning. Once Ali decided to let go, the steamy scenes were unstoppable. I like that the author showed the readers not just the relationship between her and the guys. The story also showed how the three are close to each other. It’s a good bedtime read. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

Great Read
Format: Kindle
The interview was perfect and the way she ran out thinking the worst is so something I would have done. When Luke goes out to get her and asks her to stay is even better. The way Beckett acts is the complete opposite of Luke and Hunter. They all have different personalities but they each pull something different from her. They way they work as a team to save everything was just part of what shows what a future could look like for them. I would love to read more.
