The marquise cut was created for Louis XV of France, who commissioned a diamond cut to mirror the shape of the lips of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. In our Queens atelier, the Elyra was designed around the marquise cut's defining quality: its length. Named for the constellation Lyra — the harp of Orpheus, the most beautiful instrument in mythology — the Elyra is a ring that makes music on the hand.
