Description

AmSteel Dyneema® AS-78 Single Braid - 52 feetStrong as steel, very low stretch and so light that it floats. With enhanced creep performance for superior resistance to stretching over time, AS 78 incorporates high performance Dyneema SK 78 into a 12 strand single braid line. Dyneema SK 78 fiber has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of all the high modulus fibers. Very high strength, 30 40% lighter than Aramid ropes of the same strength, is matched with very low weight, and it floats.

With enhanced creep performance for superior resistance to stretching over time, AS-78 incorporates high-performance Dyneema SK-78 into a 12-strand single braid line. Dyneema SK-78 fiber has one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of all the high-modulus fibers. Very high strength, 30 - 40% lighter than Aramid ropes of the same strength, is matched with very low weight, and it floats.

Its extremely low elongation and outstanding creep performance are matched by excellent flex-fatigue performance and abrasion resistance. It offers the racing community the next generation in high-performance lines and is the same price as Samson's SK-75 single braid. Coated with Samson's proprietary Samthane coating.

Key Features

  • Load it to 30% of its breaking strength and it stretches less that 1%
  • Much lighter than wire rope, and 30 to 40% lighter than Aramid ropes of the same strength
  • Use for cascade systems, replacements for wire halyards, tapered sheets, backstays, runners, checkstays, trapeze lines and strong ultralight rigging
  • Add a cover where you need to cleat it or where it runs through a rope clutch
  • Very easy to splice with a 12-strand eye splice
  • Keep some onboard in a variety of different diameters for emergency repairs and replacements

Specifications

  • Construction: 12-strand hollow single braid
  • Core fiber: Dyneema® is a brand of UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene fiber) from the Dutch company DSM Dyneema. It is a long chain, oriented strand synthetic fiber with very high strength as well as high abrasion resistance, also known as HMPE (High Modulus PolyEthylene). Dyneema rope is made in a number of formulations, SK-60, SK-75, SK-78, SK-90, etc. Each is progressively stronger and more costly. Honeywell International makes a similar UHMWPE fiber, called Spectra®.
  • Hand/Feel: Very slippery so is often used with modern sheaveless blocks and thimbles. Not good at holding knots but easily spliceable with a 12-strand eye splice. Must be covered with a heat-resistant jacket where it wraps around highly-loaded winches.
  • Stretch: 0.70 % at 20% of breaking strength (after 50 cycles)
  • Specific Gravity: 0.98 (floats)

Low profile
Worked perfectly for draining oil from zero turn lawnmower. Even cons with a spare inlet plug

1999 BMW 528i Fit and works like Original BMW-Pleasantly Surprised
1999 BMW 528i M52TU Engine. Pleasantly surprised and impressed. Everything fit as it should. Yes, one connector pipe took a bit more pressure to get it to "click" and lock, but it did click and lock..and better tight to insure no vacuum leak. Definitely works well and stopped the vacuum leak that old system had. Would recommend especially since price point might lead one to think that quality is not that good, but I'm glad I didn't spend any more on something else. Highly recommend.

Test fit to make sure it connects
When I revived it I thought it had looked a little too small until I compared it, I test fitted it and at first I thought it was a tad bit bigger but realized the more I pushed it in the more it went very tight fit and my car is running healthy. Installation is a pain but go to YouTube and search the “” the 50’s kid”” Who has two methods to getting them on, I went the intake removal route to replace additional parts.

Cheap Replacement
These are an easy replacement for anyone who owns a BMW m52/m54 engine that has PCV issues. My car was burning about 1 quart every 1,000 miles. The parts are direct fit and install fairly easy. If there is resistance, lube the hole or o-ring up with some grease and it will slide in easier. Took me about 2 hours start to finish. My mechanic recommended that I remove the intake manifold to do the job. I don’t see how you could do it without removing the intake manifold. These parts probably won’t last as long as true BMW parts but on a 20 year old car I don’t see the benefit in using genuine BMW parts. Cheap stuff will suffice; worst case it doesn’t last quite as long.

NOT TOO HARD TO INSTALL...
This CCV kit seems adequate. People say that because the hoses supplied with these kits are more brittle than the genuine BMW parts, these are tough to install... But they're really not. The ends on these hoses SWIVEL and you can sort of eyeball which way you need the fitting to be pointing BEFORE you put them on your manifold... They swivel, but they're tight and it takes a little force to turn them. ALSO, a little dab of silicone gel or a spray of silicone out of the can, into the fittings on these makes a world of difference when clicking them on... For the price, I highly recommend the kit.
