Lowering your classic VW looks incredible, but it often comes with a hidden cost: the "death wander." When you drop the front end of an early Volkswagen, your caster angle flips from positive to negative, making the steering feel light, twitchy, and prone to drifting across the lane.

Our 2.5° Caster Shim Kit is the essential fix for lowered Bugs and Ghias. By tilting the beam back, these shims restore the positive caster necessary for your wheels to "self-center," giving you back the rock-solid straight-line stability you’ve been missing.

Key Features

  • Precision Correction: 2.5° of angle to counteract the geometry shift of lowered front ends.

  • Improved Handling: Eliminates front-end wandering and improves high-speed tracking.

  • Complete Hardware: Includes extended-length high-strength bolts to ensure full thread engagement at the pan head.

  • Durability: Heavy-duty construction designed to handle the stresses of the front beam.

Product Specifications

  • Part Number: 22-2815-0

  • Angle: 2.5 Degrees

  • Quantity: Sold as a Pair (2 Shims + 2 Bolts)

  • Fitment: 1956–1977 VW Type 1 (Bug) and Karmann Ghia with beam front ends.

Installation Guide

Note: Professional alignment is recommended after installation to ensure perfect front-end geometry.

  1. Preparation: Securely jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with jack stands on the frame head. Remove the front wheels if necessary for easier access.

  2. Loosen the Beam: Locate the two lower mounting bolts that secure the front beam to the frame head.

  3. Insert Shims: Loosen the bolts enough to create a gap between the lower beam tube and the frame head. Slide the thickest part of the shim toward the bottom.

    • Goal: You want to tilt the top of the beam toward the rear of the car.

  4. Hardware Replacement: Remove the factory short bolts one at a time and replace them with the extended bolts included in the kit.

  5. Torque: Ensure the shims are seated flat and centered. Torque the new bolts to factory specifications (typically 36–43 ft-lbs for most Type 1 applications).

  6. Final Check: Lower the vehicle and test the steering sweep for any interference.

A good product
Color: Black-27.5"x11.8"
Size is accurate and this is important in my situation as I use a pull out key tray and wanted edge to edge coverage. Depth is good but in my case I would have liked a deeper dimension as an option. Phone charger works well, the mouse slides smoothly

Will not charge your phone
Color: Black-Stock Market-31.5"x15.8"(with Wall Charger)
I love this mat, but it doesn't do what it says... I bought this mat for the candlesticks! The charging station was a bonus. It is very large and covers my working area, which I like. But when I go to charge my phones, it doesn't work! I placed my Android phone on the magnetic charging circle, and it showed the lightning bolt charging icon. I looked at it 5 minutes later to see how much it charged, and it was at the same % when I put it on, and the lightning bolt was gone. I tried three times, and it never charged! I then tried with my Apple phone, and the same thing, it doesn't charge. Buy this for the mat's aesthetics only; don't expect it to charge phones or earbuds...

Cute jewelery holder
Color: C Blue
I was looking for something simple to hold some necklaces and earrings. I do the have much because I'm not much into jewelry but I didn't want to just sit them in a bathroom drawer. This jewelry rack is so convenient and doesn't take up a lot of room. Fits the bill just right.

Worth it
It was easy to assemble, now I have a place to hang my husband’s necklace, and organized other jewelries. For the price it’s very well made and sturdy. It does not look cheap at all.
