De Gibson Custom Shop '59 Les Paul Reissue VOS in Iced Tea Burst: het jaar dat alles klopte, opnieuw tot leven gebracht
1959 geldt onder gitaristen als het absolute hoogtepunt van de Les Paul-productie. De combinatie van lichtgewicht mahonie, een two-piece figured maple top en ongepokte PAF-pickups leverde een instrument op dat tot op de dag van vandaag de maatstaf is voor elektrische gitaartoon. De Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS in Iced Tea Burst is Gibson's meest getrouwe poging om dat moment te reconstrueren, uitgevoerd met de precisie en het vakmanschap die alleen de Custom Shop kan bieden. Dit is geen eerbetoon aan de '59. Dit is de '59, zo dicht als je hem nieuw kunt krijgen.
De Custombucker Alnico III pickups zijn ongepokt, net als de originele PAF's, en dat hoor je. Het geluid is open, dynamisch en reageert uitzonderlijk gevoelig op je aanslag en je volumeknop. Clean klinken ze warm en driedimensionaal, met een glasachtige helderheid in de hoge snaren. Zet je de versterker harder, dan bloeit de overdrive op een manier die synthetisch niet te reproduceren is. De Iced Tea Burst-afwerking in nitrocellulose lak met VOS-behandeling geeft het instrument een subtiele vintage patina die aanvoelt alsof de gitaar al decennia in goede handen is geweest.
De body is van one-piece lichtgewicht mahonie met een two-piece figured maple top, afgewerkt in nitrocellulose lak. De hals is van solid mahonie met een period-correct profiel en een Indian rosewood fretboard met cellulose nitraat trapezoid inlays en 22 frets. De schaallengte is 628 mm. De ABR-1 brug en Kluson Single Line tuners zijn uitgevoerd in nikkel, consistent met de originele hardware. De twee Custombucker Alnico III pickups worden aangestuurd via twee volume- en twee toonregelaars met een toggle switch. Geleverd in de iconische Brown/Pink Lifton Reissue 5-Latch koffer.
